Historia
The power and the beauty of The Iliad resound again across 2,700 years in Stephen Mitchell's exciting new translation, as if the lifeblood of its heroes Achilles and Patroclus, Hector and Priam flowed in every word. And we are there with them amid the horror and ecstasy of war, carried along by a poetry that lifts even the most devastating human events into the realm of the beautiful.

I Found the Poetry in the Illiad
Revisado: 10-27-23
Both the introductory chapters and the melodic narration helped me feel the poetry of the Illiad and appreciate it in a way I never could before.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

A Masterpiece of Science Fiction
Revisado: 03-21-20
Hamilton creates a galaxy which some have written is too tedious with too many characters, but I believe he has given his readers the DNA of his universe so that we might better understand the beauty of his creation. I would not edit one moment out of this compelling novel. I can't help but think however now when I see numbers of Amazon delivery trucks with the word ”Prime” on their sides that perhaps the Commonwealth has been defeated. So on to the the next book Judas Unchained to find out.
