Historia
Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Most of it went over my head, most delightfully.
Revisado: 08-10-20
Loved the novel and loved James Franco as the voice actor. His apathetic tone was immersive, it truly captured the nature of the narrator and character.

Historia
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

A convincing argument about exception people
Revisado: 04-23-20
I really enjoyed every chapter, and the narration by the author is great. I found the only downside to be a lack of counter examples or consideration for counterarguments. This doesn't significantly detract from the book though and the overall message. I found the moral of the book to be something truly valuable which we all should deeply consider.

Historia
This was no ordinary war. This was a war to make the world safe for democracy. And if democracy was made safe, then nothing else mattered - not the millions of dead bodies, nor the thousands of ruined lives. This is no ordinary novel. This is the story of a young American soldier terribly maimed in World War I - he "survives" armless, legless, and faceless, but with his mind intact.

This book should be read by everyone
Revisado: 06-18-19
This book should be read by everyone, not just for the message but the way in which it is conveyed. The narrator does a fantastic job of communicating the emotions as well.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

This classic deserves better

An entertaining read with a good cast.
Revisado: 04-09-19
I had this book overhyped for me so maybe the flaws stood out more. It was entertaining and thrilling, but the constant foreshadowing me off the edge of my seat. The performances were great, especially the main narrator, though some were a bit overdone and cliched (the Baron). The reason I read sci-fi is for big concepts and this book lacked in that arena in my opinion. would definitely suggest reading it, but don't expect it to be the epitome of sci-fi like some people build it up to be.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C. S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging and humorous account of temptation - and triumph over it - ever written.

Historia
Mattie Ross, a 14-year-old girl from Dardanelle, Arkansas, sets out to avenge her Daddy who was shot to death by a no-good outlaw. Mattie convinces one-eyed "Rooster" Cogburn, the meanest U.S. marshal in the land, to ride along with her. In True Grit, we have a true American classic, as young Mattie, as vital as she is innocent, outdickers and outmaneuvers the hard-bitten men of the trail in a legend that will last through the ages.

An amazing book and an excellent narrator to match
Revisado: 06-30-17
This amazing story kept me entangled in its web of mystery and excitement throughout the entire 43 hours. I've heard others have had a hard time finishing it but I was hooked till the end.
The narrator was also excellent, my only criticism would be his harsher American accent didn't quite feel right for Lisa, but otherwise it was a great performance!
