Historia
Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

Amazing story
Revisado: 02-14-25
This story was enthralling. I hung on every word. I think it's one of the best stories by this author. However, the choice of narrators fell short. I found myself wincing as this narrator created such high pitch and squeaky voices for the female characters. I was anxious to finish the book not only to find out the amazing ending, which was well worth it, but also so I would no longer need to listen to the narrator.
The story and the lessons I learned as I read this far outweighed the discomfort of the high-pitched voices. I definitely recommend this book, but I would suggest getting a paper copy.

Wonderfully delightful story. Holmberg painted vivid imagery, creating a story I couldn't put down.
I hope there's a sequel. I want to hear the rest of the story.

Historia
After four-year-old Asenath’s mother is murdered by Egypt’s foreign rulers, the child is raised to be a priestess by her overprotective father—high priest of Egypt’s sun god. For fifteen years, Asenath is sequestered in the upper levels of Ra’s temple, convinced it is her destiny to heal the land by becoming queen to the next Egyptian pharaoh. But when Egypt’s foreign king instead gives her as a bride to the newly appointed vizier—a Hebrew named Joseph—her entire world is shaken.

this book was brilliantly written and engaging.
I normally read three to four books at a time, but all my other books were set aside as I read this one.
my only complaint was that it ended. it's one of those books that you want to go on and on.

Historia
"You will be called Anippe, daughter of the Nile. Do you like it?" Without waiting for a reply, she pulls me into her squishy, round tummy for a hug. I’m trying not to cry. Pharaoh's daughters don't cry. When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya's chamber. I know her spirit has flown, yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don't look back. Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Another Amazing Book by Mesu Andrews
Revisado: 05-27-22
Every time I finish another book by Mesu Andrews, I proclaim it the best. Her ability to weave a story through historical and biblical facts amazes me. This faith strengthening book, Pharaoh's Daughter, didn't disappoint. I laughed, I cried, and read late into the night. This is definitely my favorite book... until the next one, anyway.

Historia
When poet and writer Joy Davidman began writing letters to C. S. Lewis - known as Jack - she was looking for spiritual answers, not love. Love, after all, wasn’t holding together her crumbling marriage. Everything about New Yorker Joy seemed ill-matched for an Oxford professor and the beloved writer of The Chronicles of Narnia, yet their minds bonded over their letters.

wonderful
Revisado: 04-05-19
this story starts out slow. if it wasn't for the fact that it had characters from the first story, I wouldn't have finished the book. However, after the first chapter or two, I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down.
This book is a wonderful story of forgiveness and God's love for all.
