Historia
When 70-year-old Charlotte Perkins submits a sexy essay to the "Become a Jetsetter" contest, she dreams of reuniting her estranged children: Lee, an almost-famous actress; Cord, a handsome Manhattan venture capitalist who can't seem to find a bride; and Regan, a harried mother who took it all wrong when Charlotte bought her a Weight Watchers gift certificate for her birthday. Charlotte yearns for the years when her children were young and she was a single mother who meant everything to them. When she wins the cruise, the family packs all their baggage - literal and figurative....

I like the way the story unfolded. I was surprised at the twist in the story and I love how in the end, everything worked out well for all the characters, after all they went to so much pain and stress. t

Well read
Revisado: 03-26-23
The book was interesting and gave us a lot of insight on how to live our lives a little bit longer by finding our Ikigai and by following or practicing some things things that will make our existence a bit easy.
There was a part of the book that quite a bit redundant though. It’s the wabi sabi part and they kind of saying it over and over again with the same context. I like the way how the narrator narrated the book as well.

Historia
As the chief forensic anthropologist for the FBI’s Chicago field office, Christine Prusik has worked her fair share of bizarre cases. Yet this one trumps them all: a serial killer is strangling young women and dumping their bodies in the steep, forested ravines of southern Indiana. With each victim, the killer leaves a calling card: a stone figurine carved like the spirit stones found among the native tribes of Papua New Guinea—the same tribes Prusik worked with a decade earlier while doing field research.

Scary yet so good!!!
Revisado: 02-21-23
I had no idea who the writer is or what’s this book is all about but I am so glad I stumbled onto it on TikTok. I can’t believed this book was published 12 years ago and that it wasn’t selling well when in fact, this book kept me on the edge from the start until the end. The way the story unfolds and the way it was written was just wonderful. It was scary because it was very explicit but I guess it was necessary to show how bad the killer is. In a way, the older twin became the way he was due to the way his mother treated him. He had a rough childhood. The mother making him swallow a piece of stone whenever he did something that pissed her off. I want to read more books from this author and I wish him well good luck.

Historia
Nora Brown teaches high school English and lives a quiet life in Seattle with her husband and six-year-old daughter. But one November day, moments after dismissing her class, a girl’s face appears above the students’ desks—“a wild numinous face with startling blue eyes, a face floating on top of shapeless drapes of purples and blues where arms and legs should have been. Terror rushes through Nora’s body—the kind of raw terror you feel when there’s no way out, when every cell in your body, your entire body, is on fire—when you think you might die.”

Sad book!!!
Revisado: 02-14-23
This is my first time listening to the work of this author and I like how she unfold the story. I was on the edge of my seat. The story dealt with abuse, physically, mentally, sexually and suicide and the aftermath of keeping the abuse in secret for so many years.
I can’t fathom how anyone could do that to a child especially the perpetrators are her own parents.
No one heals from this kind of thing completely. The author approached the topic very well but there are some parts of the book that I would think would be better if they elaborate more to it, like proving that the student father really abused her and if Nora got vindicated for what she suffered. I wanted something more from the ending but nevertheless it was good.

Revisado: 02-05-23
For a James Patterson book, this one kind of disappointed me. I don’t want to say that it was boring but it lacks the element of surprise and the flow of the story was slow. The only action part that made me really listened to it was the last 3 or 4 chapters. The rest is just mediocre. It was nice to hear Dolly Parton but I think writing isn’t really her forte.

I didn’t really like it that much but at the same time I don’t like either. It was just okay for and there is only one part that made me smile and it’s when he was translating an Italian to her into English.

The way the story unfolded was very interesting. The narrator did a good job and the story is somewhat surreal but may happen in real life. I look forward to reading again a Nina Manning book.

Historia
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

Well written
Revisado: 10-23-21
The story is somewhat out of the ordinary. Well, not the 20 years old age gap between the heroine and the hero but the story line about marrying someone who killed your son albeit it’s accident. I mean forgiving the killer is one thing but marrying them is another thing. What I like about the story is that I hadn’t had the slightest clue on how the story would end and who the real protagonist it so I was surprised at the ending.
This is worth listening.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

I like it.
Revisado: 10-11-21
The way the narrators narrated the story and the way the story was written was to my liking. I enjoyed listening to the unfolding of the story and hearing the twist to it. I can’t imagine any parents would do what Gray’s parents did to her and maybe it’s one of the reasons why we can’t really blame her for what she did. The ending was something I wasn’t really expecting. I thought she was on the road to recovery. I wonder if there’s a second part to this book.
