What do you do when you're faced with a big decision? If you're like most people, you probably make a pro and con list, spend a lot of time obsessing about decisions that didn't work out, get caught in analysis paralysis, endlessly seek other people's opinions to find just that little bit of extra information that might make you sure, and finally go with your gut.

Redundant and minimally useful - Returned
Revisado: 12-12-24
I got a very small amount of value out of this book amidst a LOT of hard to listen to, extremely redundant and repetitive information. I was so frustrated with listening to it and not hearing anything uniquely helpful that I had to stop.
What I learned:
-What makes a decision good or bad is the variables and overall positioning of it, the outcome is separate because you ultimately can't control it. i.e., you can make a good decision and have a bad outcome and vice versa. Instead of trying to guarantee an outcome you can't control, the book is supposed to help guide decision-making that increases your odds for a better outcome.
The book helps with this by going so, so much further than pros and cons of your choices and actually overwhelms with enough similar but ever-so-slightly different layers of categorizing and multiple-choicing that it felt like I was being taught to overthink my decisions to exhaustion. Narration was mind-numbing, not engaging and the repetitiveness of words, statements and scenarios was not helpful. SKIP!

Beautiful and brutally honest, Mary Lambert's poetry is a beacon to anyone who's ever been knocked down - and picked themselves up again. In verse that deals with sexual assault, mental illness, and body acceptance, Ms. Lambert emerges as an important new voice in poetry, providing strength and resilience even in the darkest of times.

I wanted to love this book but couldn't continue
Revisado: 11-14-22
I love the poetry in this book and how incredibly it is performed. I personally had to return this title because I found it a bit too triggering and intense with respect to suicide and other sensitive topics (eating disorders as well.) If you are not in a good head space, I would not listen because although the writing is beautifully visceral, relatable, and descriptive- especially for those of us who have had similar experiences, it can be extremely triggering and disturbing with respect to certain topics. If you are in a dark place, it will underline and intensify feelings and ideations you may be having. There may be brighter, more encouraging pieces in this book, but I didn't make it to them because I had to stop listening. Just a fair trigger warning that somehow isn't reflected in much or any of the other reviews.
