Good enough

Long, but cute story line. Overall nice, but cheesy cheesy!!!! Ending dumb.. like the whole town being mean to Knox, their boss, saying they don’t care about money or being fired & sticking their neck out for Naomi. It made me giggle because how off... And then his ex gf of 20 years shows up and kidnaps her and to convince her their mutual ex wants her. I hate cheesy romance novels, but it was okay.

Creepy

Definitely a change from my normal romance novels! I heard about this book over a book group on Facebook and decided to try it out. If you have a soft stomach I wouldn’t read, but I just thought it was interesting.
Chapter 26, is where I started to get sick to my stomach. (I’m someone that can read anything with a straight face, but this was just insanely sick). The writer must be so messed up to think these things.
The ending is a nice plot twist too!!

Expected more

I was so excited to read this book, but a bit unsatisfied. I love Matthew McConaughey so I expected some juicy stuff, but it was just a basic auido biography with basic life details. I didn’t find anything really heart warming, funny, or extremely interesting about the stories included.
For example, I know this sounds bad, but as a reader, when he states at the beginning that he has been through a lot in life, one thing he ober came was being molested at 18, I couldn’t wait to read about that. Then, he doesn’t speak on it at all. It’s completely understandable to not want to speak on it, but why include it in the intro if you won’t speak about it.
This book used a whole lot of filler words. He goes on run on sentences that could be explained in 1 sentence. For example, he started describing New Orleans.. I zoned out and realized I had listened to 3 minutes of him talking about New Orleans in run on sentences. You know it’s bad when I got bored with it and I LIVE IN LOUISIANA. I just really expected more from this book.
Usually writers have the last few minutes to make you rethink what you thought about the book. In this book he begins to talk about what he has done in his career involving politics and I cannot stand reading anything about politics in a “just for fun” book.

This book was very misleading. It made it seem like the whole point was about the widow, but she doesn’t become a widow until what 80% Into the book? A lot of the book felt like unnecessary information. I felt like the entire Yakip character was pointless.
I thought they could have left out all of Yakip’s POV.

Good read with a twist

It’s been awhile since I read a Lucinda berry book! I surely did miss her. At first, she always introduces a bunch of characters all at once. But I like that because she normally throws everyone’s name out there at first and doesn’t add many new people. I like to write down the names and who they are so it’s easy for me to follow. The story is great with a nice twist at the end. Worth the read!!

Too mushy

This was a super cute book. I heard a lot about it, so finally listened to it on audible. I loved the voice over. I expected the shocker to go a complete opposite way so I was happy to hear it was a different shocker.
Book was too mushy. Child mush. Lots of repeating and repeating and REPEATING of how much they love each other. Although this technically wasn’t a happy ever after ending, it felt like it because of the constant mush

This was such a good read!! From the beginning to the end, I was not bored once. The characters were so full of life and catty drama. I ate it up! I also love how the ending was such a twist. 100% recommend

This was a good past time audiobook. The subject is dark and heavy but it was portrayed so well. I loved the characters and how the letters were read. I did expect the build up to have led to something a bit more suspenseful. I thought they would reveal some juicy secret but it wasn’t so secretive. Still a nice read

Short story, but always love a Lucinda Berry story. I listened to it on a quick road trip. I love a short story because there’s no room for all the extra unnecessary stuff. Straight down to business! Ending was different but loved it
