Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Revisado: 10-26-24
Love having Maddie (Madison Lintz) join the storyline. Very interesting about the Genetic Genealogist. (I would love that job). I thoroughly enjoy how Michael Connelly intertwines different stories throughout the book and you never get confused listening or keeping up.

Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Too much Covid and Woke Politics
Revisado: 05-19-24
I am a huge Michael Connelly fan, read all of his books. This story was really good, but I didn't like him bringing in the stupid Covid masks and vaccines references and wokeness, black lives matter and the politics being played out at the time he wrote this book. Especially now when we found out the vaccines were worthless and masks did nothing, We know California is a huge liberal State. Because of these strict policies during Covid a lot of people fled the State. Now look at your State, you can't even arrest shop lifters. That is sad. I feel sorry for the Police Officers in all Liberal States. Maybe that is why he did address these topics, and he did try to stay neutral, but I don't think he should have addressed it all.

Very disappointing. Don't know what was worse, the narrator or the story, or both. What a waste of time and money.

But in the spring, nine years to the day since she'd left, that's exactly what happens - Vivien returns, fleeing from a broken marriage and her lost dreams for children. What she hopes to find is solace with "Bootsie", her dear grandmother who raised her, a Walker woman with a knack for making everything all right. But instead she finds that her grandmother has died and that her estranged mother is drifting further away from her memories.

Romance Novel or Mystery? Can't be both... Ugh!
Revisado: 06-15-19
I started reading in my 30's and I read every one of Jude Deveraux's books, loved them and was hooked on reading ever since. Then I graduated to mysteries and my appetite grew from there for more. So I was really excited to see that Jude Deveraux wrote a murder mystery but it really made me gag when she described the men in the book, Really?? She just couldn't help herself to add a romance novel flare when it comes to describing the men. Ugh, couldn't take it. Didn't finish as much as I wanted too.

Disappointing Book 5
Revisado: 06-15-19
I enjoyed the other books in the series, but this one was just too revolting in listening to what the psychotic pursuers wanted to do people, kids, animals, etc. that I think it distracted from Susan Hawk's pursuit in finding a way to complete what she set out to do. It's like the author was in a hurry and had to think of sentences as fillers that went too far overboard. It actually ruined the book and if there is a book 6 I will have my doubts if I want to download it or not.

Any additional comments?
I just finished listening to this book. Get the Kleenexes out because it will be well worth it. This is the third book in the series and I never wanted it to end. I would listen to it going back and forth to work and when I walked in the house I wanted to turn on the TV and watch it as a movie (but it's not a movie yet, that is just how good the story is). It was brilliantly written by Justin Cronin, I am so impressed on how the story flowed and all of the many characters that he kept track of. Scott Brick, one of my favorite narrators made the characters come alive and you grew to love all of them. What an excellent story. I highly recommend it.

Another excellent David Baldacci Book
Revisado: 05-05-16
What did you love best about The Last Mile?
The friendship that was made between Amos Decker and Melvin Mars. I would love to see these two men again more books together.
What did you like best about this story?
Melvin Mars Character
What does Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This is my first time listening to Kyf Brewer, he was ok, especially with Melvin Mars character, but he seemed to talk too fast for Amos Decker.I really like Orlagh Cassidy. She is great to listen too especially when Ron McLarty is the narrator, too.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Sins of the Four Musketeers.
Any additional comments?
David Baldacci, just keep them coming...

Historia
In six minutes, one of us would be dead. None of us knew it was coming. So says Wes Holloway, a once-cocky and ambitious presidential aide, about the day that changed his life forever. On that Fourth of July, Wes put Ron Boyle, the chief executive's oldest friend, into the presidential limousine. By the time the trip came to an end, Wes was permanently disfigured, and Boyle was dead, the victim of a crazed assassin.

Had a headache towards the end of the book
Revisado: 04-16-16
What did you like best about The Book of Fate? What did you like least?
Interesting Story, but I didn't like any of the characters. Especially Wes, a whiny guy. Ihave no idea why Nicko was part of the story.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Don't have so many verbal interruptions by the characters dialogue. This was so annoying towards the end. I swear there were over 1,000 verbal interruptions though out the book. The characters were constantly being cut off by one another.
Which scene was your favorite?
Can't remember
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
Could have been a lot better.
