Historia
Everything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover - to find out everything he can, to control the local police, and then to vanish. Reacher is a good soldier. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, he finds layers no one saw coming, and the investigation spins out of control.

What Affair?
Revisado: 03-09-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
THE AFFAIR is one of my favorite Jack Reacher novels.
In THE AFFAIR, Jack Reacher, flashes back to his army career and he tells his last story in the bureaucratic military machine and why he decided to drop out loaded only with a tooth brush and a good pair of walking shoes.
In looking back I can't really recall exactly why he did drop out and I can't seem to remember anything about an affair...What Affair?
I am probably just having a blonde moment but I really can't remember much of the actual plot of this book. I think it is because their is something hypnotically comforting about the meticulous compulsion that is Jack Reacher.
What I remember best are the walking scenes...Reacher's super power to just walk, and of course to know the exact time, and well for that matter to know exactly everything.
My only complaint is in the narration, I had a bit of a hard time with Dick Hill. He sounds a little condescending. Gosh, I wonder if Reacher is actually a little condescending, I know I would be if I knew exactly everything.

Dark River: A Little Tiring
Revisado: 03-09-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this book to a friend. I know that I have titled this review, "Dark River: A Little Tiring," because it is a little tiring.
Dark River is book 2 of the Fourth Realm Series by John Twelve Hawks which tells the story of the world of "The Travelers" who stand against the forces that monitor and control society.
I have a fondness for books that thwart the established Big Brother, and on this "The Fourth Realm Series" is entertaining. I found myself being conformed to its conspiracy.
The Traveler (Book 1) is good fun and so I purchased the rest of the series, Dark River (Book 2), Golden City (Book 3).
But alas and alack "The Dark River" gets tiring, John Twelve Hawks seems to repeat endlessly the monitoring structure and control of his Traveler world that eventually I shouted out (audibly) to him, "Hey! your preaching to the choir - here."
Yes use your credits to get this series but I recommend that you not listen to them one after another, but leap frog them over other choices.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Replay My Sixties
Revisado: 03-09-13
What did you love best about 11-22-63?
This book is one of my favorites. I am not a big fan of Stephen King, but who can deny that he is the master of characterization. 11/22/63 is true escapism fare. I was transported back to the Sixties in rich heady flavors, so much so I could taste the root beer.
I admit that when I am driving endless miles I will at times mental transport myself in time and play a "what if..." with my past, working out what events I might alter and which events are too painfully perfect to touch.
This is one of the true treasures of Audible, a wonderful combination of a great story, a great subject, and a great narrator. Put your headphones on and be transported in time.
What other book might you compare 11-22-63 to and why?
"Replay" by Ken Grimwood is also a time repeating trying to go back and get it right story.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
