I couldn’t finish it. So many reasons. The narrator has the same, breathy, robot voice of every other narrator. The story is depressing. I struggled to relate to any of the characters. I have 1 hour and 12 minutes left and I don’t even care how it ends. I can’t take it anymore. I’m humored by the propaganda Hannah describes while her book serves the same god. Cheeky. She does the same, tired, sly political drop after you’re interested. Teeing up communism in all its “grandeur”. Predictable and cheap. I am from the south, so an accent would (so much) more accurately set this story up for me personally. I’m not one to leave a harsh review but this one was earned.

Noah Dean did a fantastic job of digging deep into his boyhood, his teen years, and his young adult life as he explains his personal struggles. His vulnerability and self revelations are a breath of fresh air in a climate where victimhood is celebrated and self accountability is waning. Read this book and be encouraged to do your own digging and in turn, with God, healing.
