So much angst
Revisado: 04-17-25
This was a slow burn fantasy adventure, with tons of pining and angst. I did like getting to know the characters and the plot, I just wished there was less of the relationship angst.

Well, he loves the idea of his job. It’s just that the reality of marketing isn’t a creative joy, it’s a soul-crushing corporate rat race. His boss keeps taking credit for his work, and his coworkers couldn’t be less sympathetic if they tried.

Moved me to tears
Revisado: 04-08-25
I loved this book when I first read it but Greg Boudreaux brought it to vivid life. The scene between Peter and Ezra brought me to bittersweet tears. Peter and Everett were just perfect together!

Historia
The Summer Court is nothing like Sebastian remembers. The oppressed lower classes are drained of their magick, and around every corner political intrigues threaten an already unstable regime. Sebastian's only hope of surviving the Court and bringing home Prince Lyne's traitorous brother lies with Duine, a magickless Unseelie servant desperate to win his freedom. A servant for whom Sebastian, an estranged Seelie royal himself, is developing a dangerous and deepening affection.

I’m glad I picked this up!
Revisado: 04-07-25
This was a bit darker than expected but full of action, danger, intrigue, and budding trust. I really liked the character growth of both MC’s and I really liked the slow burn of it.
The narration wasn’t bad but the accents were a little inconsistent.

Historia
Rain Christiansen is settling into married life with fellow cold case detective, Daniel McKenna, and life is good. Better than good, even. But when it comes to the topic of expanding their family, Rain isn't so sure he's ready. Yes, a new addition could enrich their lives. But it could also tear down the delicate balance they've worked so hard to achieve. Do they really want to take that risk? He'd love to brood over that a little more, but murder never takes a day off. A decade-old mystery of the missing Parker family is heating up.

Macabre mystery mixed with tons of family and love
Revisado: 03-28-25
I’m not crying, you’re crying! Gah… that ending tugged my heartstrings and was so perfect!
Getting there though… lots of action, anxiety, and danger, mixed with the quirky humour and snark found in all the books of this series. Well worth the read.

I loved this action/adventure story with lots of political intrigue, surprise revelations, and steamy sexy times. I liked that River and Blaise came across as different people even with the same narrator.

I came here to kill Huxley Dawnchaser. I expected the ridiculous extravagance of his estate, his home, and his life. What I didn't expect was the trail of broken people he left in his wake long before he murdered Oberon Gloombringer. I certainly didn't expect to be put in the position of helping Huxley's children pick up the pieces of their own shattered lives. There must be some way I can kill him twice.

Just as good on Audio
Revisado: 03-10-25
I really liked Cove and Florian, and while I’m not a huge fan of large age gaps, I felt they were well matched with their past traumas. I loved seeing them both grow as people.
I loved that the stones were their own characters and how treatment of them was addressed.
On the whole, while I wouldn’t consider it a happy book, it was full of wonderful characters, growth, healing, justice, and a solid HEA. I can’t wait to see where the next story goes as the four kingdoms come together to save their lands.

For decades, the four families who rule the Summerlands have been locked at an impasse. No one is fighting, but neither has anyone been speaking. We don't have time for that anymore. Mount Slate, the volcano that sits in the middle of the Summerlands, is threatening to erupt, and only the four family heads working together can avert disaster.

Great start to the series!
Revisado: 03-09-25
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series! Rain and Adair were perfect. The story was captivating and I had a hard time putting it down. I liked the idea of the magic sentient stones and the modern aspects of this fantasy story. The characters were interesting and I am invested in seeing where the over arching plot goes.

3.5 stars
Revisado: 03-07-25
I believe this is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it for the most part. There was a lot of miscommunication, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. While I didn’t like Roarke at first, his motivations changed my mind. Phinneas irked me at times with his jumping to conclusions. Over all I liked the plot, magic, and action.
I like John Solo’s voice, but his Irish accent for Roarke was lacking. Every once and awhile there was a proper lilt to a few words, but on the whole it was just a generic English one.

Excellent story with an excellent narration!
Revisado: 03-05-25
This book cements Kai Butler as one of my favourite authors! Set in a bloody empire paused on the brink of further bloodshed, the story is filled with uncertainty, intrigue, and betrayal. I was kept on the edge of my seat wondering how Airón would adapt to his new situation. I loved the glimpses we got of Tallu’s character - all is not as it seems. Action, danger, attraction, and loyalties tested added to my enthralment.
The excellent narration absolutely increased my enjoyment!
This is the first book of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger; there is definitely far more to this story and I can’t wait to find out what happens.

Historia
Blood. Torture. Murder. They've been my only companions for centuries. I haven't needed or wanted anything else. Until I see Matty smile. Then something in me, something that's been dormant for centuries, begins to reawaken. Matty doesn't belong in my world. He's loving, innocent, and full of joy. The darkness of my life would corrupt him in a heartbeat, but when he's dragged into it against his will, nothing can stop me from delivering my personal brand of justice. Matty keeps fighting for things I can't give him, for things I'm no longer capable of. I can't come between him and his family.

Good but long
Revisado: 02-19-25
I really liked the characters, there was some action, some tragic back stories, some unnecessary self-sacrificing but a lot of love too.
It just felt a little over long.
