Historia
This survival guide for new pilots identifies the pitfalls waiting inside the killing zone, the period from 50 to 350 flight hours when they leave their instructors behind and fly as pilot in command for the first time. Although they're privately certified, many of these unseasoned aviators are unaware of the potential accidents that lie ahead while trying to build decision-making skills on their own - many times falling victim to inexperience.

Should be required reading!
Revisado: 02-26-23
This book is both informative and extremely freightening. I think instructors and or ground schools should make this required literature. There's so much good information in here that could absolutely save your life. The information is very well delivered and his sobering approach towards telling the stories that have cost the lives of many aviators is riveting. Flying is safe. But it is also inherently unforgiving and this book puts that reality in front of you early on without ANY doubt as to what results may come from being foolish, wreck less or uncertain in your abilities as a pilot. This is a book that can be listened to against and again and still offer new lessons to be learned. Especially if you are going through continued flight training. Please make no mistake about how valuable this book is to young pilots. If you're reading this review and on the fence, let me tell you now.. Get it. Listen to it. And then listen to it again. You may learn something in here that could one day resonate in a scenario that may very well save your life.

Historia
"America had a secret weapon," writes Steve Call of the period immediately following September 11, 2001, as planners contemplated the invasion of Afghanistan. This weapon consisted of small teams of Special Forces operatives trained in close air support (CAS) who, in cooperation with the loose federation of Afghan rebels opposed to the Taliban regime, soon began achieving impressive - and unexpected - military victories over Taliban forces and the al-Qaeda terrorists they had sponsored....

Like listening to a child trying to read Dr. Seuss
Revisado: 07-08-22
I usually always take narrator reviews with a grain of salt. But this is utterly horrible. Not only does the guy have zero emotion towards the reading, but it feels like he struggles with reading in general. It's like having a kid try to sell vacuum cleaners door to door and read off of a pamphlet. Who thought this was a good idea??

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Much different than the movie
Revisado: 04-23-22
Some really unique twists I wish they had added to the movie, although I understand the movie was chasing the film version of the shining and not the book. Not a big fan of the reader. And he reads so many King novels. I wish that wasn't the case.

Cheesy voice-over work.
Revisado: 01-20-22
The story itself was interesting, and the concept was pretty good. But the voice work was just bad. They honestly should have selected a female to read this considering the main character was female herself. Instead you're stuck with poor dialog that sounded like two flamboyant gay men. And his portrayal of Chris sounded like he was reading from a kid who'd been kicked in the head by a mule.

Hard to follow for me..
Revisado: 01-16-22
Although there wasn't a lot of characters in this story, I found them all excruciatingly hard to develop. Not sure if it was the narration (which I found to be amongst one of the worst for King novels) or just the writing in general, but I'd find blanks in the story where 15 minutes would elapse and I'd find myself asking "what is happening in this story??". I usually do audio books when I'm driving or creating in my studio and like to get locked into a good story. IT, the Shining, Pet Semetary were all amazing books that I found myself riveted to. Three hours into this one, I honestly couldn't wait for it to be over.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Ignore negative reviews of the narrator!
Revisado: 08-11-21
I put off getting this book for so long after reading so many negative reviews about the "monotone narrator". I finally was just ready to give it a listen and figured I could use my imagination in places where the narrator fell short... His performance was excellent!! I actually feel that how he read the story set a very good tone for how the Overlook was intended to be portrayed!! He added plenty of emphasis in all of the right spots - but for a dark story, you expect a dark tone to the read. It was one of the best audible experiences I've had yet. I've seen the movie a bunch and always heard that the book was vastly different and it really is. Some parts I was disappointed to discover weren't in the book, but the book was (like always) vastly superior to the movie in my opinion.

Historia
For a moment Wilson froze and looked at the white-helmeted pilot who sat high on the nose of the colossal fighter. Across the small void, he saw the pilot's eyes peer over his mask. Dark, chilling eyes. Wilson kicked right rudder to slide closer and jam any chance for a bandit gunshot. When the bandit pulled all the way over, almost on its back but in control, he cursed in frustration at what he knew was coming next.

Satisfies the old deployment itch
Revisado: 04-02-21
You can definitely tell it was written by an old navair guy. Kinda cool that he doesn't waste as much time describing all the jargon. Some folks unfamiliar with life at sea may find it a bit much to take in, but it was a nice touch.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

A bit of a snooze fest
Revisado: 11-23-20
Book two was basically a waste of a 25 hours. A bunch of committee meetings and senseless filler with zero outcome towards the end of the book. I thought the story would focus way more on the outbreak and the post apocalypse sense of life after a plague but it really wasn't. All of that built up to a very anticlimactic meeting with the dark man that was severely hurried and answered almost nothing. I'd like my credit back honestly.
