Historia
USA Today hails Steven Saylor as a “modern master of historical fiction.” Rich in intrigue and period detail, his novels set in ancient Rome have garnered acclaim the world over. A prequel to his epic Roma Sub Rosa series, The Seven Wonders follows series star Gordianus the Finder as an 18-year-old traveling the Mediterranean to witness the wonders of that fabled age. At each stop, the young investigator finds a beguiling mystery that pushes his powers of deduction to the limit.

Excellent Light Novel
Revisado: 09-30-24
Perfect for listening to as you fall asleep, the roaming adventures of Gordianus the finder in this novel serve as the perfect entry point into the Roma Sub Rosa series.
My only complaint is the narrator's pronunciation of Gordianus, which is focused heavily on the second half of his name in a literal sense. It's jarring to hear GordiANUS repeatedly throughout, but you get used to it.
Maybe it is actually pronounced that way, maybe the narrators of all the other audiobooks in the series got it wrong. Maybe there are a dozen ways to say it and this guy just made an educated guess. God knows.
You can appreciate the late, great, Ralph Cosham, and his wonderful portrayals and pronunciations in many other works by Steven Saylor.

There are tales of Middle-earth from times long before The Lord of the Rings. The story told in this book is set in the great country that lay beyond the Grey Havens in the West: lands where Treebeard once walked, but which were drowned in the great cataclysm that ended the First Age of the World.

A beautifully woven tapestry of tragedy, worthy of being deemed a tale of Shakespearian high-fantasy.

Historia
Breakfast of Champions (1973) provides frantic, scattershot satire and a collage of Vonnegut's obsessions. His recurring cast of characters and American landscape was perhaps the most controversial of his canon; it was felt by many at the time to be a disappointing successor to Slaughterhouse-Five, which had made Vonnegut's literary reputation.

Astounding and Amazing

Disney, what have you done? How were you able to clearly adapt marvel COMIC BOOKS into the greatest cinematic universe out there, but completely fail at Srar Wars content by tossing out the entire EU. Un-freaking-believable.
This is Grade-A content. I waited for over a year for this fully unabridged release and it didn't let me down. It didn't pain me to watch my childhood heros die. It made me feel more at times when minor characters died here than in the supposedly main 'Skywalker-Saga' storyline.

Probably the best written sci-fi series of all time.
Revisado: 01-16-24
I resisted any attempts of spoiling any part of this lovely cantos. It is a work of beauty. A magnificent achievement of love that emboldens and cherishes so many forms it can take. I had so many times thought the story would unravel itself and I would lose interest, but no. I returned time and time again until I finished it.
in many ways, I am speechless. The profound writing, planning and intelligence put into words in these novels reach into my soul and spoke to a part of me that could not be reached by any other work.
It ushers and beckons me to do greatness myself. To live up to such a well-structured creation.

Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

fantastic storytelling in a more concise form than long-form books. was not crazy about the last moment in the end of the book, but it's fiction, who cares. what matters is the ride it takes you.

Revisado: 08-15-23
After a few weeks of having this madman's thoughts in my head, I kind of miss the narcissistic, psychotic manipulator. Iris Murdoch is immensely talented. It was my first book by her and it was gifted by a friend. I had no idea what I was in for and he told me nothing. It is easily of the most well-written books of all time for its capture of real people in its characters, especially their flaws and how they manage and mitigate them.
