Historia
It is the present day, and the world is as we know it: smartphones, social networking, and Happy Meals. Save for one thing: The Civil War never occurred. A gifted young black man calling himself Victor has struck a bargain with federal law enforcement, working as a bounty hunter for the US Marshal Service. He's got plenty of work. In this version of America, slavery continues in four states called "the Hard Four". On the trail of a runaway known as Jackdaw, Victor arrives in Indianapolis knowing that something isn't right—with the case file, with his work, and with the country itself.

What did you love best about Underground Airlines?
How the author including real people like James Brown into his revisionist history of the US
What was one of the most memorable moments of Underground Airlines?
When the narrator went into the slave zone states and how all his abilities meant nothing without the help of his white female friend to justify his being there.
What does William DeMeritt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His ability to change accents and tones really added to the interactions of the characters.

Historia
Comic Lorna Landvik gives Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon a feminine perspective with her story about Patty Jane and Harriet Dobbin, two wacky Minnesota sisters. Before she can say "annulment," Patty Jane's husband has gone and a baby is on the way, leaving Patty to rely on sister Harriet and the House of Curl, a beauty shop which evolves into a support group and community workshop over three tumultuous decades.

Great story and great narrator.

Where does Patty Jane's House of Curl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I thoroughly enjoyed the simple but engaging story of two sisters from their early twenties through the following twenty years falling in love and suffering personal tragedy and even though they are deeply flawed people and have times of losing one another, in the end they struggle through together and show that you don' have to have a perfect life to have a full life as long as you got your family.
