Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Okay
Revisado: 12-29-24
The main characters were ok but the side characters were kind of weird. Would like these holiday or romance to have a different kind of job that isn’t so typical and not always live in a big famous city.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Torture and sadism
Revisado: 11-17-24
Horrible subject matter that could give sadists ideas. Wasn’t expecting graphic torture and abuse. Narrator sounds identical to the character of Carla on Cheers so can’t get out image of Carla being the housemaid.

Historia
The horrifying true story of one of the first eight men to enter Auschwitz. Growing up in New York, Marilyn Shimon often visited her uncle in California. She saw his scars, gaped at his 31321 tattoo and listened to his horrific stories of surviving the Holocaust. However, she could not relate to the suffering he endured or understand the significance of his accounts until now.

Important details and honesty of moral qualms.
Revisado: 05-14-24
Read many Holocaust survivor stories but this was me of only where the survivors tells and admits to the levels they had to stoop to in order to survive. Bribing, helping Germans build death camp buildings, killing Germans in cold blood not self defense. More honest to admit these things that had to be done to survive. Also more honest to explain that the survivor was tormented rest of life. This story had some unique info I didn’t learn from other survivor stories. Important to remember history.

Historia
Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank’s remarkable diary has since become a world classic - a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the “Secret Annex” of an old office building.

Important story
Revisado: 05-14-24
It is an important story that needed to be told and diary style gives us a feel for how things went for Jews in hiding blow by blow, unfiltered. Although a famous actress I thought the narrator Selma Blair does the author and story a disservice by putting a voice tone to the character that makes Anne Frank sound like an annoying valley girl teenager with a “whatever” attitude. She made this real girls important narrative sound like an annoyed teen putting her own twist on the character instead of realizing this was a real person and shouldn’t bias the narrative with a fictional character voice that casts Anne in a negative, unlikeable teen. I read the unabridged diary as book first and then listened to this and impression from Anne’s words alone is very different than Selma’s reading of it because she has given Anne a bratty tone that we do not know or think she had in real life. I hope Audible allows a re-recording that reads it as non-fiction and not adding bratty American voice tone.
