This isn't your grandad's sci-fi. Loman's a down on his luck channelship racer who gets the deal of a lifetime, and this gets him hot water fast. Author Cobb pulls no punches. His writing fast and visceral, serves up hard-hitting sci-fi with no brakes or safety harness. Narrator Weight delivers an outstanding performance.

Crazy, misguided, dangerous love

Still a better love story than "Twilight" or "50 Shades." Everyone who thinks those two "love stories" are good literature ought to elevate their game and read "Story of O." And remember: all the crazy stuff that happens in the book is fully consensual because it's all done out of love.

"Story of O" is a crazy love story. As in, no one would be so crazy as to love someone so much as to subject themselves to such torture. And yet, such is the case with O, the titular character, who allows herself to be subjugated the point where she has no name and is referred to only by that letter. While it's a well-written piece of literature, the characters are flat at best and unbelievable at worst. And then the story falls flat at the end, wrapping up in a matter that feels unsatisfying.

Not much of a story per se as a laundry list of repulsive imagery; still, it is well written and stands as a critique of the debauched decadence of the time in which it was written.

The narration is well executed, however there is a small number of technical issues in the recording. There are at least two static pops that should have been cleaned up in production: one at 5:06-8 in chapter 11 and another at 12:37-9 in chapter 13.

Bitter Ends Audiolibro Por Alex Issa arte de portada

This collection of stories by Alex Issa is loosely themed around people who come face-to-face with their bitter ends. The writing is vivid and pulpy, which suits the edgy subject matter, and the plots are twisty and well-executed. The stories provide a glimpse into diverse lives: a princess (a la Cinderella) held in a castle against her will; a pair of hard-drinking bounty hunters in search of their quarries; the last three human survivors following the apocalypse.

The narration is superb. Narrator John Feather is a masterful storyteller. His nuanced voice acting really brings the stories to life and adds new a dimension of enjoyment to the material.

Cav, a modern-day snake-oil salesman and business guru, hilariously mocks self-help & business books. It's perfect for CEO's and fans of a good laugh. The author's narration is downright hysterical too - his he's big, he's Texan, and he's not afraid to show it!

This short story presents an expertly executed nightmarish scenario. A handful of survivors cram into an elevator to hide from the zombie horde outside. Each suspects one or more of them has been bitten and will turn into a zombie. When suspicions start getting the better of them, one wonders whether the real threat will come from within the elevator, as opposed to the zombies outside.

Brilliant narration of a literary masterpiece

While Inferno is a much more entertaining read than either Purgatory or Paradise, the composition as a whole merits reading. I don't state this lightly, as I am well aware this is one of the masterpieces of Western literature. But an unfamiliar reader should be forewarned of what to expect: Inferno is a scathing criticism of the author's political and religious reality, Purgatory is something of a morality tale, and Paradise is a philosophical discourse.
