The year is 2252 and Loman Phin is in trouble. Little does he know his very life is at stake when he gets caught up in an ancient feud, chased by a space vampire, and forced into a death-race by the king of Ceres. Meanwhile, danger is always hot on his heels in the form of a massive space freighter out for Loman's blood.

Buckle up and hang on!
Revisado: 04-12-17
This isn't your grandad's sci-fi. Loman's a down on his luck channelship racer who gets the deal of a lifetime, and this gets him hot water fast. Author Cobb pulls no punches. His writing fast and visceral, serves up hard-hitting sci-fi with no brakes or safety harness. Narrator Weight delivers an outstanding performance.

Crazy, misguided, dangerous love
Revisado: 10-12-16
Still a better love story than "Twilight" or "50 Shades." Everyone who thinks those two "love stories" are good literature ought to elevate their game and read "Story of O." And remember: all the crazy stuff that happens in the book is fully consensual because it's all done out of love.
"Story of O" is a crazy love story. As in, no one would be so crazy as to love someone so much as to subject themselves to such torture. And yet, such is the case with O, the titular character, who allows herself to be subjugated the point where she has no name and is referred to only by that letter. While it's a well-written piece of literature, the characters are flat at best and unbelievable at worst. And then the story falls flat at the end, wrapping up in a matter that feels unsatisfying.

Historia
"The 120 Days of Sodom" is "the most impure tale that has ever been told since our world began". It was written by the Marquis de Sade, a french noble man, in the space of 37 days, while imprisoned in the famous parisian Bastille. Fearing confiscation, the Marquis de Sade, Donatien-Alphonse-François, had to write it on a continuous roll of paper, made up of small pieces glued together. The original manuscript is now on display in Paris, and is the third most expensive kept in France, insured for 12 million euros.

A better love story than Twilight & 50 Shades
Revisado: 10-10-16
Not much of a story per se as a laundry list of repulsive imagery; still, it is well written and stands as a critique of the debauched decadence of the time in which it was written.
The narration is well executed, however there is a small number of technical issues in the recording. There are at least two static pops that should have been cleaned up in production: one at 5:06-8 in chapter 11 and another at 12:37-9 in chapter 13.

Historia
Alex Issa's thought-provoking stories are difficult to classify. From post-apocalyptic fables tackling restraint in the absence of law, to tales of hit-man morality, his short fiction has challenged listeners and delighted critics with its minimalist sensibilities and ever-present subtext. Here, six almost surreal short stories lead the listener through disturbing and somehow beautiful locations in the mind.

Vivid writing, edgy subjects, masterful narration
Revisado: 09-05-16
This collection of stories by Alex Issa is loosely themed around people who come face-to-face with their bitter ends. The writing is vivid and pulpy, which suits the edgy subject matter, and the plots are twisty and well-executed. The stories provide a glimpse into diverse lives: a princess (a la Cinderella) held in a castle against her will; a pair of hard-drinking bounty hunters in search of their quarries; the last three human survivors following the apocalypse.
The narration is superb. Narrator John Feather is a masterful storyteller. His nuanced voice acting really brings the stories to life and adds new a dimension of enjoyment to the material.

Now a national best seller (of no place on Earth), this book contains my proven Your Life Sucks, Buy This Book system of life fulfillment. Whether it's your career, your spiritual development, or your degree of personal fulfillment, the information in this book will do absolutely nothing towards making your life better, but your money will get me that much closer to buying another vacation home. This parody of self-help and business development books is a must-listen for CEOs, managers, and fans of a good laugh.

Hilariously destroys self-help & business books
Revisado: 08-01-16
Cav, a modern-day snake-oil salesman and business guru, hilariously mocks self-help & business books. It's perfect for CEO's and fans of a good laugh. The author's narration is downright hysterical too - his he's big, he's Texan, and he's not afraid to show it!

Historia
Seven characters find themselves trapped inside an elevator during a zombie apocalypse. The narrator, the last passenger to occupy the elevator, tells them that his wife, who was murdered by a zombie, told him as she died in his arms that she saw one of the passengers get bitten by a zombie before the person ducked into the elevator, but she died before she could describe the victim to him. The terrified passengers know that the victim will soon turn and attack them. They must determine who it is and kill him or her before it is too late - if they don't kill each other first trying to find out.

An interesting twist on the zombie scenario
Revisado: 06-23-16
This short story presents an expertly executed nightmarish scenario. A handful of survivors cram into an elevator to hide from the zombie horde outside. Each suspects one or more of them has been bitten and will turn into a zombie. When suspicions start getting the better of them, one wonders whether the real threat will come from within the elevator, as opposed to the zombies outside.

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Brilliant narration of a literary masterpiece
Revisado: 05-02-16
While Inferno is a much more entertaining read than either Purgatory or Paradise, the composition as a whole merits reading. I don't state this lightly, as I am well aware this is one of the masterpieces of Western literature. But an unfamiliar reader should be forewarned of what to expect: Inferno is a scathing criticism of the author's political and religious reality, Purgatory is something of a morality tale, and Paradise is a philosophical discourse.
