Great writing and great performance. An interesting perspective of Cuba which is partly based on fact but largely draws on American naive bias. This doesn't detract from the novel or the reader...both were great. Highly recommend.

Great Mafia Book

I didn't know much about the Philadelphia mob but I do now, after reading this book. Or listening to the Audible book. Violent and fascinating. I recommend it for any Mafia fan.

A Must Read for Any Army Buff

The introduction sucks and I almost stopped listening. I'm glad I didn't. From the first chapter to the last, it's a great book that reads like a novel. If you want to know about Ranger School, this is the best book you'll ever read. Skip the intro and enjoy the book.

Deceptive but Moderately Entertaining

The man reading this audio book is excellent. The author, on the other hand, is deceptive at best. There is a reason our wonderful country is hated, he is the reason. Claims to be a mult-millionaire.. .. I don't think so. He lost a law suit for swindling an elderly couple. He brags of ripping off 3rd world countries too. According to him, he trained the Army, Navy, Airforce and the Marines. Ultra right wing politics, you bet. I guess it's a good thing he is also minister who marries couples. Book is mildly entertaining. He should have just written it as fiction.

A Masterpiece of Modern Military History

One of the best books I've ever read in any genre. Intense and terrifying. Honest and humble. A perfect look at a soldier's experience in Iraq. Well written. Excellent narration from Ray Porter. A magnificent book and listen.

Great Book about a Great Man

Excellent book about the Mexican legend. It talks about his successes but also talks about his very serious struggles with drugs and alcohol. Well written. Well performed. Alot of love and rigorous honesty in this book. If you speak Spanish, I would highly recommend it.

Terrible Book

I hate to leave a bad review as I'm sure the author put a lot of work into it. However, the author and the subject of the book is quite full of himself. Dr. Rolle may be a great guy in person, but he certainly does not come across that way in the book. He comes across as a narcissist who is given to exaggerating and self-aggrandizing behavior. I did enjoy the background about the Bahamas. I appreciate his ongoing theme about how tough it is being black in America. I'm sure that's true. Again, I do not know him personally and he is probably a great guy... at least he thinks he is.
