Historia
We know that gut health is important. What and how you eat affects your energy levels, your brain function, how you feel, your work performance, your skin, your weight, how well you age and your long-term health. There isn’t much else in life under your control that has that kind of awesome power and all of these effects start with what happens in the gut. At the same time, never before have we been so confused over what we should eat!

Historia

* samhain = /ˈsˠəu̯nʲ/
* oíche = /ˈiːhə/ (dialecto de Munster)
* cú chulainn = /kuːˈxʊlˠɪnʲ/
No podía seguir escuchándolo. Me arrepiento haber comprádolo.

Historia

Historia
The guru to the gurus at last shares his knowledge with the rest of us. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's seminal studies in behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, and happiness studies have influenced numerous other authors, including Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman at last offers his own, first book for the general public. It is a lucid and enlightening summary of his life's work. It will change the way you think about thinking. Two systems drive the way we think and make choices, Kahneman explains....

Does Not Translate Well To Audio
Revisado: 07-03-15
What disappointed you about Thinking, Fast and Slow?
1. A great deal of the research is based on what if questions posed to study subjects. I question the validity of these responses.
2. Too too dry for an audio book.
3. The PDF was essential which made the experience difficult since most times I'm listening to an audio book I'm exercising or driving.
What could Daniel Kahneman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not sure there is anything
Would you be willing to try another one of Patrick Egan’s performances?
Yes
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Historia
Since prehistory, humans have braved the business ends of knives, scrapers, and mashers, all in the name of creating something delicious - or at least edible. In Consider the Fork, award-winning food writer and historian Bee Wilson traces the ancient lineage of our modern culinary tools, revealing the startling history of objects we often take for granted. Charting the evolution of technologies from the knife and fork to the gas range and the sous-vide cooker, Wilson offers unprecedented insights.

Great book marred occasionally by the narration
Revisado: 08-30-14
If you could sum up Consider the Fork in three words, what would they be?
Fascinating to read
What did you like best about this story?
It's detailed treatment of the subject.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Overall the narration was very well done with one critical flaw. Whenever the narrator would quote a French person or an American she would adopt a French or American accent. This enormously marred the experience. For a few reasons, first in the case of the French accent it made no sense. The person she was quoting wasn't speaking in English. Second, she didn't do this for all accents. Third she did try it once for a Chinese accent and ended up sounding like a bad Indian accent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The affected accents were **TERRIBLE**
Any additional comments?
This is a non-fiction piece not a interpretive piece of art. NO NO NO ACCENTS!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Fantastic Story, Well Narrated
Revisado: 12-17-13
Would you consider the audio edition of The Martian to be better than the print version?
Can't tell yet because the print edition isn't out yet. In fact that's what prompted me to buy the audio.
What did you like best about this story?
There were a couple of things. The pacing of the story was very well done. The science was awesome. Overall, a great story.
Which scene was your favorite?
The end was very compelling.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud in several places. This was aided for sure by listening to the audio version.
Any additional comments?
There is one nit for the narration. ASCII is pronounced /ˈæski/ as in Ask-ee. That killed me every time I heard it.
