Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Alright alright alright!
Revisado: 12-08-20
Such a fun memoir! I could listen to him talk all day, much more so when the content is full of great stories and snippets of wisdom. I found myself consistently jotting down Matthew's "Note to Self," as they were generally short and simple yet powerful lines to keep in mind. I listened to this book at the right time in my life because so much of what he said about his life's journey parallels mine, his quotes hitting close to home. He doesn't have an agenda, no preaching of things to do or not do based on experience.. just honest story telling. You take what you need from it. I was honestly sad when it was over!

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

An Essential Listen. Especially Now
Revisado: 06-30-20
As always, Malcolm Gladwell absolutely slays. I haven't read any of his books but I've listened to all of Revisionist History podcast and this audiobook definitely sets the stage for future audio books. He himself narrates it and it feels like one giant podcast that includes real audio from the people he's interviewing whenever possible. This book gives brilliant insight into just how often we get encounters with strangers wrong and the tragic consequences of not understanding one another. There is a huge undercurrent throughout the book the ties into policing and race relations that is particularly relevant with the recent resurgence in Black Lives Matter and the national discussion regarding police reforms. A must-read/listen!!!!

Historia
Strategic nonviolent action has reasserted itself as a potent force in shaping public debate and forcing political change. Whether it is an explosive surge of protest calling for racial justice in the United States or a demand for democratic reform in Hong Kong or Mexico, when mass movements erupt onto our television screens, the media portrays them as being as spontaneous and unpredictable.

A long read but SO MUCH useful activism content
Revisado: 03-09-20
I was struggling to finish this book (as a hardback) just due to its non-fiction historical nature so I switched to audible and was able to cruise on through. Drags on a bit at the end of the book but over all so much great content that I frequently refer to in my day to day activism. It's super useful stuff to know for anyone working on a cause that needs to spur public opinion!
