The story read like a 17 yearold girls bad boy fantasy meets girl power. Stereotypical grungy guy voice didn't help, but atleast he could actually. The woman voice actress sounded like she was reading the phone book.

I probably would have chosen 4 star if it were a little longer or had some small changes. but where it stands, I can't give it more than a three, but I will most likely read another book by the author.

had more than one instance where I thought "am I having a stroke?!", remember someone said she wrote Non-Linearly, didn't realize that meant in the same sentences.

I got a free version as a promotion. The story while in the shorter side had parts that were difficult to follow. I still can't figure out if the author was trying to alluded to three different people being the kill and I just honed in on the correct person asap or if the other guys were meant to be that stilted. I kind nd of expect one of them to be the killer in the next one.

This is either an AI generated kids story, or an adults explanation of a child's book. It doesn't sound like what a child would want to read or could understand. It sounds more like an adult talking to another adult and giving a play-by-play of what's drawn in a children's book.

That being said, it is what it is and could be fun for some children to listen to.

Interesting Idea, just not for us

A friend got this for free as a promotion and we listened to it together. It was an interesting idea, but it felt like it was trying to be two different books. The story of a mother doing anything for their child, even after death. And the story of a close nit group of children having to survive the apocalypse after their families almost kill them. Both of these stories are good and should work well, but they're different in feel. So having both and switching between so often dulls both stories.

Felt like the first and second halves were written by different people for two separate books that got crushed together. The first half feels technical and world building, and the second half is plot heavy and deals with the actually interesting ideas this book has. At the end of the day, I'm happy to have read the book.

Started off fairly average, and kept at a decent pace. Had some spots where I thought it would get better, but only lead to disappointment. The narrator was good, but shouldn't have been picked for this. Finally, the ending was confusing and left me wanting less.

the weird orchestral moments between chapters brought me out of the experience. Potentientially could have gotten a five star, almost made me dnf. The sister was red kind of incestual, which again really brought me out of the experience.

terrible sci-fi, confusing premise, and felt like the author had almost no idea of how a government or military works. If there was supposed to be a different structure, then that should have been explained, but it wasn't during any of the mind numbing exposition fests the author did. So much info with nothing important being said.
