Historia
In this deeply personal audiobook, Sidney Dekker narrates his own experiences with disaster and suffering, and in the process, he examines a largely unexplored dilemma. How can we satisfactorily deal with suffering when the disaster that caused it is no more than the dispassionate sum of utterly mundane, imperfect human decisions and technical failures? Broad in its historical sweep and ambition, The End of Heaven is as rich as it is moving.

I hope it was therapeutic, because it wasn't great
Revisado: 07-27-22
I accidentally selected this instead of the Safety Anarchist (which I ended up getting as well :- ), but decided to keep it anyway thinking it was building off of his research in the medical safety arena.
While I can only imagine how hard and transformative the experience he went through was and appreciate how it must color his whole life, I was not really looking for an attack of religion, and would not have selected this book if I had known.
That said, while I look forward to getting back to his Safety Differently works, I do hope that putting this together helped him find some healing and peace.

I really liked the concept of shooting all your arrows and living your life without the regret of not doing all that you came to earth to do.

Historia
In Reinventing Discovery, Michael Nielsen argues that we are living at the dawn of the most dramatic change in science in more than 300 years. This change is being driven by powerful new cognitive tools, enabled by the internet, which are greatly accelerating scientific discovery. There are many books about how the internet is changing business or the workplace or government. But this is the first book about how the internet is transforming the nature of our collective intelligence.

Historia
For the first time ever Roland Huntford presents each man's account of the race to the South Pole in their own words. In 1910, Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen set sail for Antarctica, each from his own starting point, and the epic race for the South Pole was on. 2010 marks the centenary of the last great race of terrestrial discovery. For the first time Scott's unedited diary entries run alongside those of Amundsen and Bjaaland, never before translated into English.

Great book on leadership and interesting insights.
Revisado: 05-14-18
This was a great combination of the history surrounding the successful race to the South Pole, and the tragic outcome for the other team. Like in business, many of the things that drew the British team to their demise could have been avoided with open dialogue and a willingness to have a strong plan B. Great stuff

Historia
In 1518, in a small town in Alsace, Frau Troffea began dancing and didn't stop. She danced until she was carried away six days later, and soon 34 more villagers joined her. Then more. In a month more than 400 people had been stricken by the mysterious dancing plague. In late-19th-century England an eccentric gentleman founded the No Nose Club in his gracious townhome - a social club for those who had lost their noses, and other body parts, to the plague of syphilis for which there was then no cure.

Revisado: 03-13-17
What a waste of a Credit. The recording spends half of the time talking about some quiz that comes with the book but obviously doesn't come with the Audible option. Then you add on the fact that it is only an hour and a half for a 500 page book and you are not left that much.
