Historia
In Unruly, David Mitchell explores how early England's monarchs, while acting as feared rulers firmly guiding their subjects' destinies, were in reality a bunch of lucky sods who were mostly as silly and weird in real life as they appear to us today in their portraits.

The understated humor and everyday similes stood out, as well as the clear explanation of the essence of a complicated subject.

Just a great listen
Revisado: 12-16-23
This was a great listen, historical English royals through the ages told in a way we’re all thinking, or at least the way a person with a sense of humour thinks. Even after listening once I would listen to it again.

Olivia Kiskey needs a change. She’s been working at the same Nodaway Falls, New York, waffle house since she was a teenager; not a lot of upward mobility there. She’s been in love with Tobias, the cook, for the last four years; he's never made a move. Intent on shaking things up, Olivia puts her house on the market, buys a one-way ticket to Europe, and announces her plans to her friends - but then she meets Davina Granville, a strange and mystical Southern woman....

Loved It
Revisado: 03-11-12
What did you love best about A Little Night Magic?
I loved this book. If you enjoy Molly Harper novels then this is worth listening to. Amanda Ronconi brings out the great sarcastic humour and the characters work well together but have their own right in the story as well. I'm really hoping Lucy March will follow this novel up with another and make it a series.

Seemed to be a bridge Novel
Revisado: 05-13-11
I love the Sookie series and am always waiting impatiently till the next one comes out. However, while reading/listening to this one I was always waiting for the book to get to the actually main event... while there is always other things happening throughout the other books there is usually a main event, i.e., Sookie meet Bill, Sookie saved bill, The witch war/saving Eric... etc...
But this book didn’t offer that, it just seemed that it stretched out a bit of an ending to book 10 and laid ground work for a book 12?... No major event happened and there were lots of questions left hanging, like the last few chapters have been ripped out...
Bit of a downer really, but, if you love the series then I'd still get the book, because if there is a book 12 then you'll be left behind in the storyline, like I said, this book seemed to lay the groundwork for the next book.

LOVE THIS SERIES
Revisado: 03-02-11
This series is one of the best I’ve read/listen to... the characters are in depth and the narrator does such a great job at portraying them you'll actually be left thinking 'Ha, that's something Vlad would say' etc... If you have read/listen to the first 4 books of the Night Huntress Series and the 2 World Huntress Series it's a must, while each book is easily a standalone story, they definitely run on from one another. If this is one of the first series you've gotten, I also liked the Sookie Stackhouse series, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs series and the Drake Chronicles (It's taken me a long time to find some good vampire series, I wished people would write what else they liked in their comments)... Happy reading, can't wait for the Vlad World Huntress book to come out...

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 08-15-10
I feel sorry for the narrator, as there is now way she could make this book sound good. The main character, Betsy, is whiney and ridiculous. I stopped listening by the 12 chapter as nothing had happened in the story line, I then realised this must have been because there WAS no story line. I'm sorry I wasted my time and money on this book.
