Historia
On the surface, Richard Ainsworth has life where he wants it. Middle-aged navel gazing and Olympic levels of procrastination are exactly what rural life in France should be about. Then crisis hits his posh B&B when redoubtable housekeeper, Madame Tablier, is accused of murder. Even more surprisingly, it's the murder of a former fiancé, turned brother-in-law. None of which the stubborn old woman denies.

Better and Better
Revisado: 07-31-24
This writer’s use of character development and humor create enjoyable anticipation throughout. The reader’s narration perfectly complements the plot and characters. I rarely listen to a book twice, but knew I wanted to listen again as it started to wrap up and enjoyed it even more the second time through. Looking forward to the next adventure with Richard and Valerie!

Enchanting
Revisado: 03-29-23
One of the most charming soul-warming stories ever with the perfect narrator. There were no false notes psychologically; every character rang true to life. I feel as though I now know some wonderful things about the insides of the life of someone with musical ability, a life I will never live. In every way a delight!

One of my favorite things about this series of books is the perfect blend of main character and narrator. He is telling the story, as you would relate events that happened to you. So enjoyable!

Master Hugh won the Black Prince’s favor when he helped to ease the Prince’s illness. Now, in the autumn of 1372, the prince is suffering a relapse and sends to Bampton for Master Hugh to attend him. While at dinner in Kennington Palace, Sir Giles, the knight who escorted Hugh to London, is stricken and dies. Poison! Sir Giles is not popular, and there are many who would gladly see the fellow done away with, except for Prince Edward.

What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.

Extremely useful book!
Revisado: 07-07-21
Excellent selection of useful exercises. The book is well-written and informative. In my opinion it could have benefitted greatly from a more mature sounding narrator and more description of the author’s experience and credentials. There was also a somewhat negative bias toward therapy from which many of the insights, research and exercises have been gleaned. I would have liked to know when, if ever, the author suggests therapy or if that topic is usually perceived as too threatening by her clients.

Historia
Count Falier urges his Venetian son-in-law Guido Brunetti to investigate, and preferably intervene in, the seemingly innocent plan of the Count's best friend, the elderly Gonzalo Rodriguez de Tejada, to adopt a much younger man as his son. Under arcane Italian inheritance laws this man would then be heir to Gonzalo's entire fortune, a prospect Gonzalo's friends find appalling. Then Gonzalo unexpectedly, and literally, drops dead on the street, and his good friend Berta Dodson, just arrived in Venice for the memorial service, is strangled in her hotel room.

Historia
When Aline Griffith was born in Pearl River, New York, in 1923, one might have guessed from her exceptional beauty that a career as an actress or model might be in her future. Few would have imagined that twenty-one years later, she would find herself in Spain as a deep-cover OSS agent, infiltrating the highest levels of Spanish society, or that five years later still, she would marry a Spanish grandee and become one of the most watched, most admired, most fascinating women of international society. This is the story of Aline, Countess of Romanones, a story of courage, beauty and success that is far more exciting than any fictionalized thriller.

Great story! Great narrator! Not great combo.....Narrator did a fabulous job but was clearly much older than the lead character, which was distracting. Otherwise a great listen. Love this author!
