Historia
The Spanish Civil War was a local conflict on the margins of Europe—a short yet bloody series of battles in a lull between the great World Wars—but the conflict was a microcosm of war in the 20th century. Not only did the Spanish Civil War foreshadow the global conflagration to come, but it also had its roots in the modern era’s central divides: urban versus rural, religion versus secularization, rich versus poor, progress versus tradition, democracy versus fascism and communism.

Much More Than a Military History
- De Mark en 07-23-23
Good but a little slanted
Revisado: 09-14-24
I believe the author tried to be even handed. Her slant to the left was apparent. I will still recommend the work as it is very data rich.

Historia
Alan Blinder, one of the world's most influential economists and one of the field's best writers, draws on his deep firsthand experience to provide an authoritative account of sixty years of monetary and fiscal policy in the United States. Spanning twelve presidents, from John F. Kennedy to Joe Biden, and eight Federal Reserve chairs, from William McChesney Martin to Jerome Powell, this is an insider's story of macroeconomic policy that hasn't been told before—one that is a pleasure to listen to, and as interesting as it is important.

Good history but too political
Revisado: 12-23-23
The author had nothing bad to say about the Democrat presidents and congress and many negative things to say about the Republicans. The slant made it hard to listen to. He also didn't go into the wealth inequality ramifications of QE. Basically this was a fan boy history of the Keynsian policy makers of the last 60 years.

Historia
From two former military officers and award-winning authors comes a chillingly authentic geopolitical thriller that imagines a naval clash between the US and China in the South China Sea in 2034 - and the path from there to a nightmarish global conflagration.

Not recommend
Revisado: 04-29-23
I would not recommend this book except to woke liberals. The performance is pretty good, but beyond that.... nope. Basic holes in plot and lack of depth in describing events at the state level left me flat. The interview afterward filled me in on why it was missing depth.

Historia
Disorder: Hard Times in the 21st Century is a long history of this present political moment. It recounts three histories—one about geopolitics, one about the world economy, and one about western democracies—and explains how in the years of political disorder prior to the pandemic, the disruption in each became one big story. It shows how much of this turbulence originated in problems generated by fossil-fuel energies, and it explains why, as the green transition takes place, the longstanding predicaments energy invariably shapes will remain in place.

Good read
Revisado: 09-29-22
I loved the history of energy and geopolitics parts. I found the commentary on current American politics a bit simplistic. IE I think HT just regurgitated back what she read in the liberal biased media articles she read and thought she was dealing in reality.
