Historia
Joe Pike didn't expect to rescue a woman that day. He went to the bank same as anyone goes to the bank, and returned to his Jeep. So when Isabel Roland, the lonely young teller who helped him, steps out of the bank on her way to lunch, Joe is on hand when two men abduct her. Joe chases them down, and the two men are arrested. But instead of putting the drama to rest, the arrests are only the beginning of the trouble for Joe and Izzy.

A great Crais adventure, marred by poor narrator
Revisado: 03-13-20
Read it anyway, it's that good a story, but I hope Luke Daniels has a day job. Painful narration!

A new character and a new series for me!
Revisado: 04-24-19
I'm always up for trying a new series and a new character. I was a little hesitant when I found the author was reading his own book because that doesn't always go well. But I was pleasantly surprised. The narration was just about perfect, I enjoyed hearing the Japanense (didn't expect that!) and I immensely enjoyed the story and the character. Barry Eisler has a new fan! Try it!

The New York Times best-selling author of Magpie Murders and Moriarty brilliantly reinvents the classic crime novel once again with this clever and inventive mystery starring a fictional version of the author himself as the Watson to a modern-day Holmes, investigating a case involving buried secrets, murder, and a trail of bloody clues.

Story was interesting but the narration - ugh
Revisado: 02-26-19
The narrator drove me nuts. When voicing some of the characters, he rushed his words and slurred them to the point where I ended up having to listen to the whole book at the .75 speed (thanks for that, Audible!) to catch what he was saying. Even at that slower speed I had to back up and relisten sometimes. I wanted subtitles!! And also on the women characters, he softened and dropped his voice so much that I had to turn it up. Then a guy would speak and blast me out. Very intrusive and annoying!

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Disappointing
Revisado: 08-19-17
I was deeply disappointed by the narrator. I was really looking forward to Katherine Moennig's narration but she doesn't have the skills to pull it off. I guess she should stick to acting. She rushed everything, stumbled over the words, and didn't use any inflection for different voices.
I was also looking forward to a new character. But I found the plot so heavy with police procedure and jargon that it really weighed down the story. So I was disappointed with that too.

Historia
It’s 1996, and Reacher is still in the army. In the morning they give him a medal, and in the afternoon they send him back to school. That night he’s off the grid. Out of sight, out of mind. Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there. Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown.

Profoundly Disappointing
Revisado: 05-26-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It is unlike all the other other Reacher books. A shadow of what it should be. Annoying. The pacing is off, the character doesn't ring true. It's like someone else was imitating Lee Child in writing it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Lee Child again?
Yes. Hope he gets it back together.
Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?
Reacher
Could you see Night School being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
It read more like a screenplay than earlier Reacher books.

Historia
Amos Decker's life changed forever - twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.

Unreadble, thanks to the narration!
Revisado: 11-24-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different narrator.
Would you be willing to try another book from David Baldacci? Why or why not?
Sure, if if Ron McLarty does not narrate.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator is unable to read in any voice but his own. They tried to fix it by using a woman for the female parts, but it was just so confusing to try to listen to a conversation between two men and figure out who was saying what. Distracting. I lost the plot, getting so annoyed with this. I could not finish the book.
Any additional comments?
Can I get a refund? Truly a bad experience!! I'm not normally that picky but this time, it was B-A-D.

Historia
“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

I'm always riveted by a Reacher story
Revisado: 09-26-15
What did you love best about Make Me?
I love how the story unfolds in the most minute of details as seen by Reacher's eyes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Reacher of course.
Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?
Dick Hill's performance was flawless, seamless, it just drew me into the story. Well done without being distracting.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not possible for me, but I would if I could.

Would you be willing to try another book from David Baldacci? Why or why not?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ?
Just him. No second voice. No sound effects.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I could not finish it, it irritated me too much.

When a promising actress from Spanish Harlem dies from a gunshot wound in the Tribeca penthouse apartment of an eccentrically famous Broadway producer, it is up to New York D.A. Revisado: 08-06-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Comic book fans. It was just ridiculous, but if you can suspend disbelief... fantasy fans?
What could Robert K. Tanenbaum have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I'm done. I'm never buying another one of his books. He can stand on his head. I'm not buying it.
Which character – as performed by Charles Leggett – was your favorite?
I didn't have a favorite.
Any additional comments?
I just kept repeating "Really?!" like on Saturday Night Live... I just could not believe the garbage that passed for a plot in this book. I've read every unabridged book I could get my hands on by Tanenbaum, but it's over. Don't call me.
