Difficult to follow
Revisado: 04-11-23
There were lots of characters with multiple storylines that made the main story difficult to follow. It didn’t help that the narrator did not differentiate his voice very much so that made tracking the characters even more difficult.

As they recount the events surrounding the disappearance of their toddler—one with a tendency to bite—two parents cope with grief in vastly different ways. While the father wrestles with feelings of guilt, the mother is convinced she’s spotted the boy in frightening TV news reports...though let’s just say he looks nothing like the precocious little boy they remember from a decade ago.

Attorney Dani Rollins is bullish in the courtroom - pushing judges and prosecutors to their limits in defense of the innocent. So when she meets Teddy Thorne, a mentally challenged teen accused of selling drugs, Dani knows she’s got this in the bag. She can easily settle the case with a couple of court appearances. But when prosecutors move for an adult felony conviction, Dani suspects Teddy’s being used as a pawn in a sinister game. As the case moves forward, Dani is certain the judge and district attorney’s office have motivations beyond the crime.

A bit far fetched
Revisado: 07-30-22
This story was not very realistic. Even if you accept that the legal process works at the speed portrayed, it was difficult to believe the main character’s behavior would have been tolerated. It started out okay, but eventually it became predictable.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Historia
Prince was a musical genius, one of the most beloved, accomplished, and acclaimed musicians of our time. The Beautiful Ones is the story of how Prince became Prince - a first-person account of a kid absorbing the world around him and then creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and fame that would come to define him. This work is not just a tribute to an icon, but an original and energizing literary work in its own right, full of Prince’s ideas and vision, his voice and image - his undying gift to the world.

Great insight into an amazing artist
Revisado: 11-11-19
Listening to this book made me sad all over again that we lost such an amazing artist too soon. I am glad that Prince's co-writer took the time to compile partial witings and quotes to give us a glimpse into Prince's talent and artistry.

Hot on the trail of a North Korean looking to sell sensitive US intelligence to the Syrian regime, Pike Logan and the Taskforce stumble upon something much graver: the sale of a lethal substance called Red Mercury. Unbeknownst to the Taskforce, the Syrians plan to use the weapon of mass destruction against American and Kurdish forces and blame the attack on terrorists, causing Western nations to reassess their participation in the murky cauldron of the Syrian civil war. Meanwhile, North Korea has its own devastating agenda: a double cross that will dwarf the attack in Syria.

Pretty far fetched, but still entertaining
Revisado: 10-22-19
This story, its characters and the plot are pretty far fetched and unrealistic. If you are able to suspend belief and just accept the story, then the book is entertaining in a similar vein as a "popcorn movie." The narrator did a good job with the multiple characters and kept me interested enough to finish the book.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-20-19
I think the summary for this book should clearly state that the authors only discuss very high functioning autism and Asperger's. If your kids are anywhere else on the spectrum then there is little you will get from this book. That was incredibly disappointing. I listened to quite a bit of the book hoping they would expand their focus, but that never happened.
It was also a bit difficult to follow as the narrator read the material like one big run-on sentence with few pauses or transitions.

Meh. Not a good ending
Revisado: 05-20-19
This book was just okay. Kept me entertained, but I was not really invested in the characters. The ending was not good. I think it was supposed to be a cliff hanger to another book, but it just felt unfinished.

Historia
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Mundane not exciting
Revisado: 01-08-19
The synopsis sounded so exciting, but the story just wasn't exciting at all. I took the initial leap of faith to accept the overall storyline, but there were so many additional parts of the story that were just not realistic or believable. The characters were boring and not well developed. In addition, the names kept changing so it became difficult to track the characters. Sometimes they were referred to by last name, then first name, then a nickname. The monotone narration didn't help.
I don't like to return books because I am always hopeful that the story will pick up and get better, but this one did not.
