My newest favorite crime author! Loving Skunk and his laid-back approach to his “tools” and murder. Nathan, the protagonist gets into some deep doo-doo as he discovers that the religious leader whom his employer is preparing for being laid to rest was actually still dealing in his previous criminal calling. Narration is spot-on.

I am in love with the Jack Reacher series, but this is my favorite, thus far…cerebral AND action-packed — you can’t beat that with a stick!

I liked the action, though it seemed just a bit overdone. I’m a big Jack Reacher fan and am intrigued to see if he will run into his son, Widow…I will continue the series with great anticipation.

Historia
Back in college, Jane Lewis would have given anything to be like homecoming queen Connie Bryan. Instead she was just Plain Jane - overweight, frumpy, and painfully shy. That was then. Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. The only thing missing is someone to share her life.

Tried something new & liked it!

I’m a police procedural, blood and guts gal, but I decided to give something softer a go, and this audiobook is marvelous. It has suspense and is rapidly moving — I never lost interest. The romantic aspects are grownup and realistic, with the beautiful surprise of a septuagenarian couple (as my husband and I are), as well as the much younger protagonist and her fellow! The sex scenes were not explicit, but rather they allowed for the imagination, which is much more sensual. I will listen to more audiobooks from Fern Michaels.

I did not expect to enjoy this because I don’t particularly care for the sci-fi genre; but I love Idris Elba, so I decided to give the audiobook a listen, and I was drawn in from the get-go. The complexity of the story was not the type that loses the listener, and the characters were relatable—helped tremendously by the stellar narrators. I’m almost willing to listen to some more sci-fi because this one was so good.

Compelling!
Revisado: 04-26-24
I found his first novel, “All the Pretty Horses“ too slow, but I’m glad that I decided to listen to this novel — it is great, though complex. You must pay attention or you’ll get lost in the characters, who are so real. I was there, in each space, seemingly participating in the scenes and conversations, either actively or just as an observer! I now understand why critics have raved over McCarthy’s talent.

A bit slow at the start, but narrator is good and kept me engaged. Of course, I’m accustomed to police procedurals from Tana French, and The Searcher is not that. Characters are interesting and I didn’t see the answer to the quest coming. Will definitely listen again.

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Exciting, But…
Revisado: 11-03-23
My only negative comment is that sometimes there was a lot of unnecessary detailed explanations in a few parts of the story, IMHO.
Dick Hill is one of my favorite narrators, and he did supreme justice to the novel. I’m a Reacher fan, for sure.

OMG!
Revisado: 07-11-23
I’m a Lisa Gardner fan, and at first, I thought I had chosen a “brick”, but I stuck with it; and am I glad that I did because this novel went from 0-90 and kept speeding. I had figured the main thing out just before we were told, but that in no way diminished the story for me. What a ride! And the narrator was on point, which can make or break a story.
