Historia
Gates of Fire puts you at the side of valiant Spartan warriors in 480 BC for the bloody, climactic battle at Thermopylae. There, a few hundred of Sparta’s finest sacrificed their lives to hold back the invading Persian millions. The time they bought enabled the Greeks to rally - saving, according to ancient historian Herodotus, “Western democracy and freedom from perishing in the cradle.” How did the Spartans accomplish this superhuman feat? This is what the King of Persia hopes to learn from the sole Spartan survivor.

pedophile bs
Revisado: 11-23-24
get several chapters into a pretty good book that all sudden evolves into an apology for pedophile character. obviously the author has some sick agenda as he has literary references to other pedophiles I'd really like my credit back on this one

Neil Stevenson's mastery of the subject and storytelling
Revisado: 09-06-24
this was the last of Stevenson's books that I had not read. for some reason I put it off I think because the audible description totally did not fit what was found inside the cover. it sounded disinteresting. in reality it was an excellent novel. great to listen to engaging and I hope this guy stays alive long enough to provide a few more years of enjoyment to his legion of fans.

Tristan Lyons, Mel Stokes, and their fellow outcasts from the Department of Diachronic Operations (D.O.D.O.) fight to stop the powerful Irish witch Gráinne from using time travel to reverse the evolution of all modern technology. Chief amongst Gráinne’s plots: to encrypt cataclysmic spells into Shakespeare’s “cursed” play, Macbeth. When her fellow rogue agents fall victim to Gráinne’s schemes, Melisande Stokes is forced to send Tristan’s untested, wayward sister Robin back in time to 1606 London.

worst audible book ever
Revisado: 09-06-24
I loved the first book coauthored by Neal Stephenson. The format of the second one is such that it is impossible to listen to as it switches to a different voice every two seconds. trying to keep up with it in the story is like doing extremely advanced math. there is nothing enjoyable or leisurely about listening to this story I had to quit after the second chapter barely retained any of what I heard. it might be a good book but in an audible format with the way they did it it's not listenable. furthermore the second book continues to explore the scientific theories behind the witchcraft in the book but it is all continuous explanation with no story. this is just a huge confusing mess that no one has time for I would have returned it but they don't allow it on cash purchases.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Historia
It’s been 120 years since the 50 or so worldships containing the few million survivors of the human species set off after the planet Earth was destroyed by a meteor. On the Worldship Humility, Sam, a 30-year-old Airlock Operative, is bored. Living in space should be exciting and full of adventure, except it isn’t, and he fills his time hacking 3-D movie posters and holographic adverts outside the stores in the retail zone. Petty thief Yasmine Emile Dufont is also from the WS Humility, but she is not bored....

Historia
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the fluky victor in a tight race for president. The country was bitterly at odds; Southern extremists were moving ever closer to destroying the Union, with one state after another seceding and Lincoln powerless to stop them. Slavery fueled the conflict, but somehow the passions of North and South came to focus on a lonely federal fortress in Charleston Harbor: Fort Sumter.

Historia
Dr Rick Tower is a mild-mannered English professor easing into middle-age at a medium-sized New England college. A genial blur, he thinks. Even his vices are unremarkable. But it wasn’t always like this. Not until they changed his name, altered his looks and told him: ‘pretend you were never different’. Because, decades earlier after a very bad day at high school, he was committed to a secret government facility with three other kids, Cat, Jack and Stephanie, each special in their own way. Tested, tutored and trained, this extraordinary quartet were then told to save the world.

Pooh portrayed more like a confident smart bear. Other characters not recognizable either. Sounded like a script read through, not a performance. Shame.
