Historia
Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

Always fun and entertaining.
Revisado: 01-13-23
These books are so fun and entertaining, not very accurate militarily but for what it is, it doesn't need to be. I've grown quite fond of Skippy and his dark sarcasm. For me the best parts are the relationship between Skippy and Joe, the mystery of Skips origin, the greater mystery of long dead advanced alien race that created Skippy the AI, and the idea of multiple levels of advancement of alien races that Skip, Joe, and the crew have to deal with. I will continue listening to thus series.

Another great story from the Robinson/ Bray duo
Revisado: 11-03-22
I haven't read exo hunter but didn't really lose anything by not in this listen. If you've never read/listened to any of the other stories then you might be a bit remise as there will be some references you probably wont get. I have listened to a handful and they were all very entertaining and i plan on burning through all of the books that are being tied together.
As a long haul trucker in my early 40s, I find Robinson's stories relatable, humorous, and very entertaining in narrative, character development, and world building. Good pop culture references and personably relatable material.

Good story, decent narration, worth the listen.
Revisado: 07-13-22
Good story, author was very straight forward in character development only fleshing out the characters that really needed it. The writing wasn't too grandiose but a kittle polish wouldn't have hurt.
The narration was decent and i don't want to bash the guy too much but i think he was a bit limited on inflection and cadence.
i will probably continue on with the series to see where the story goes also, the banter between the two main characters is pretty funny.

3rd lit RPG book
Revisado: 03-16-22
so im new to this genre and so far this is my 3rd book not counting the multiple books in the series He who fights monsters. I found this to be immersive enough but i think there was a bit too much time spent on the main character being introspective. I am looking forward to the remaining books and i will purchase them.

Great story, main character meh.
Revisado: 12-08-21
3rd book of Robinson for me. Great story and premise but main characters moral conundrums got repetitive and annoying. Seemingly all through this massive story I found Solomon not developing in a way that was commensurate with what he was going through. Still a great and long listen and I picked up all if these books with one credit!

Loved it, great story and characters. There were even a few moments where i was like "well! didn't see that coming". I've listened to one other of the authors books, Infinite i think was the title and that was a great listen as well. For me though one of the absolute best parts of the book was actually when the book was over and they played a gag reel of the narrator making mistakes and his reaction to them, so funny!
I Will listen to more of his books for sure!

Revisado: 10-28-21
Enjoyed very much. Very few parts of the book where i was like "c'mon man!" and a whole lot if parts where i completely immersed.
Blase is probably my favorite character arc but Dante's is great as well; really, all of the characters were very well fleshed out aside from the Minister of Cell? Not sure if i have the location correct on that.
performance was impeccable too. I will continue on with the cycle of Galand.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

This is a long and subjective review!
Revisado: 01-06-19
I didnt get this book for entertainment. Honestly I purchased it after watching Googins on Joe Rogan's pod cast. Some background, I've read or listened to dozens of books on self-help and psycholgy, have a BA in Human services, am a war vet, and am a sole parent of two kids for 11 years now.
Long story short, by age 35, I'm 40 now, I earned my bachelors, was making 75k a year, had the respect of my peers, a nice house in a good neighborhood, a corvette, and plenty of cash.
Then the shit hit the fan in the form of anxiety and depression, it runs in my family. I lost all professional confidence, became very anxiouse at small things, began to see myself as a victim of a shitty childhood (homelessness, drug addict parents, poverty, neglect, physical and emotional abuse). I threw away all my hard work, the house, the car, all of it!
I wallowed in that until suicide was seeming like the most effective solution. Very reluctantly, I began seeing a therapist twice a month which helped but wasn't the whole solution. I decided to buy the book based on what Goggins said on the JR podcast about his poor childhood.
While listening to David's story I knew that this dude had faced what I had faced and worse; a childhood foundation that would preemptively destroy any chance at building a normal adult life. This was big for me because none of the books I read had an author I could relate to like this.
Goggin's wisdom revealed to me that it is within each of us to define who we are bar none! The second and probably the single most imortant lesson is how we choose to define and associate with pain, any pain but in this case pain from traumatic childhood experiences. This wisdom was more felt than intellectually realized.
I was always a slave or prey to my pain. I am now beginning to understand that life is all about pain and that pain and suffering is a gift if you choose it. After meticulously cultivating a victims mentality and being in deep soul sucking depression for years and years, I am now choosing to embrace every shitty and disgusting detail of my pain not as prey or a slave but as a man who is no longer afraid of where I came from.
