Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

What happened
Revisado: 04-10-23
I loved the Myron series and that narrator, especially how he voiced Win. This narrator fell flat with his reading, completely missing the WASPy sound. I also found the story boring. Everything just fell flat.

Historia
Since becoming an unlikely millionaire and quitting the St. Paul Police Department, Rushmore McKenzie has been working as an unlicensed private investigator. But even for him, this latest job is unusual. He’s been asked to find a stolen Stradivarius, known as the Countess Borromeo, that only the violinist seems to want him to find. It was stolen from a locked room in a B&B in the violinist’s former hometown of Bayfield, Wisconsin. For McKenzie, helping means going against the local police, the insurance company, the FBI’s Art Crime division, and his own lawyer’s advice.

Ok not one of the best in the series tho
Revisado: 02-27-23
I found this one somewhat slow and it never seemed to pick up and grab me like the previous one in the series did. That won’t stop me from continuing tho. I’m pretty much hooked on following through to the end of the series.

Historia
When the ATF gets a lead on a much-sought-after cache of illegal guns near the Canadian border, they call millionaire private detective Rushmore McKenzie in to help them track down the gunrunners. Their only lead is a guy who is part of a small-time gang of armed robbers working north of the Twin Cities. Their idea is for McKenzie to infiltrate the group and wait for them to lead him to the guns. Which seemed like a bad idea to McKenzie at the time, but even he had no idea just how bad things were going to get.

Getting better
Revisado: 02-21-23
Books have grown on me although $3M or $5M isn’t rich or as rich as the author portrays, especially the way Mac throws around cash. Beyond that, the books are good short mind candy if you like the genre.

Historia
Glacier National Park police officer Monty Harris knows that each summer at least one person - be it a reckless, arrogant climber or a distracted hiker - will meet tragedy in the park. But Paul "Wolfie" Sedgewick's fatal fall from the sheer cliffs near Going-to-the-Sun Road is incomprehensible. Wolfie was an experienced and highly regarded wildlife biologist who knew all too well the perils that Glacier's treacherous terrain presents - and how to avoid them.

Really enjoyed the second in the series and changing the main character. Can’t wait for the next in the series. And guessing if the author will make another change. Very impressed.

One of the best
Revisado: 11-27-19
This book is a very good improvement on Carr’s first novel and I really enjoyed his first. This one is superb. Beyond the intricately developed story line and characters, and having myself lived and worked since 1992 in Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, Ukraine and Africa, Carr really nailed the country descriptions and nuances. Full on five stars. Narration is good; the Zim accents are off the mark, but with a book this great, it doesn’t matter. Bravo, Carr, bravo.
