Historia
Cherry, Nebraska, population 312, is just off the highway between the sticks and the boonies. It’s where Dave Rhodes and his friends have lived all their lives. They own businesses, raise families, pay taxes, deal with odd neighbors, and, once or twice a month - just like their fathers before them - transform into wolves.

Had high hopes
Revisado: 05-08-19
This was not like his other novel "FantasticLand". I was very disappointed. It started great but then a couple hours in an Irishman walks into the story with a very strange accent, thankfully the author wrote what the"UK-Russian-Queens, NY" man was from. The narrator tried and seemed confident but is hard to listen to narrators that have 1 character contantly flip flopping into accents.
The story itself was seeming to teeter a lot and there were just too many banches on this tree. It's 'a coming of age novel with love, family, a couple murders, a foreign regiment, good guys and bad guys across the world and of course there is a long standing fued. Things get mentioned that sounds interesting, then gets dropped. In this small where a small percentage of the population even is aware of these werewolves, it's just a lot.

Historia
Nick Adams is just a normal guy. He loves his family, appreciates his home, and covets his car. But he absolutely hates his job. Which is what makes it so difficult when not a single customer comes by his store that day. It seems as though there's a bug going around, something that has come out of nowhere and is keeping people at home. Still, it's probably nothing to worry about. People get sick all the time. And besides, things are finally starting to look up. Nick's first customer of the day has just stumbled through the door…

Nice tie-ins to Other Books
Revisado: 04-06-19
Sea sick came first, This is second but perfectly readable as first. Would not recommend jumping into Savage without this one. I read the "Final Winter" before these. There is a tie to that book but totally not necessary, sort of like an easter egg. You get the tie-in and it's really interesting, kind of "perspective #2" or you have no idea there is one and still really interesting. Still, the next book ties all the knots so grabbing the "Final Winter", "Housemates" and "Sam" before actually hitting Savage is super satisfying. I read those last 3 out if any sort of "order". I am sure there is some order to them all in a perfect world but it's hard to be the late commer.
I do want to say one thing-I HATE zombie stories, I loved this one. So if you are generally tired of the same boring plot- something is making people crazy, oh they are zombies, a merry band of survivors set out, some die, loads of running and stupidity, and then the journey to a safe place or escorting the "only survivor" where they sail into the sunset clutching guns....don't worry, I can't say much more but yes, some of those elements ate presented but it's got more depth
if you like it, try the book with zombies on the moon.

Quite the ride
Revisado: 04-06-19
I listened straight through. Just a night of sleep I was happy to delay. I tried to turn it off and hit the hay but it was no use, I had to know. As with any review I write I am careful to omit spoilers. If you like this author, then the book is what you would expect. It is, at the time of this review, totally stand alone.
I would say it compares to his novel "Housemates" in terms of level of violence, suspense, twists, and an ending that wraps all the main elements presented in the plot. The epilogue was a tad on the "could be a second part..." though, I suppose it was sufficient to give the reader a chance to be a bit of a detective. I will likely listen again and pay better attention to certain comments and play that role. Mr. Wright is good at making a reader (or listener) think.
Narrator was very good, one voice reminded me of the voice of the actor who played Hagrid in Harry Potter movies. He had unique voices for all the characters except maybe the girls but for a male, it was still very good. Great pace and enthusiasm.
Overall, I was happy and I hope this review helps. I did pay for this and only want to help fellow buyers in making choosing a book a tad easier.

The world has ended, yet a few places still cling to life, dragging out their final, dwindling moments until the last second. The United Kingdom is one of those places still left alive, but it is only a matter of time before it too is wiped from the face of the earth. The Tar is coming, covering every inch of the globe. There is no escape. It means the clock is ticking for Finn, who needs to find the monster that murdered his sister. The world might be over, but vengeance never dies.

Glad I invested in this book
Revisado: 10-25-18
Honestly, I was taken back by going from the beginning of a disaster, the creation of stranglets as far as I can tell, to right before the world ends. I was thinking the story would be the slow consumption of earth and the terror of it all. Maybe I should just trust good authors. It was quite outstanding, character driven story. I couldn't understand the motive of the main character, I would be angry if was in his shoes but I just did not understand his motivation. It took a few starts before I just followed along on the main character's "journey".
No spoilers, Everything I have mentioned happens in the beginning. The story plays out in ways I couldn't have predicted. It was really a good ride. The ending was really warm for a "let's face it, if no one figured out how to undo the problem by now, the world is over, a goner, goodbye blue marble" sort of way. Still, this story concludes with a purpose.
Hope you enjoy the book.

I enjoyed all the stories. It's nice to have an author who isn't worried about going to the edge, but he has the control to make these stories not overly ridiculous for "shock value"
always enjoy his warnings, great fun, unless you have enjoyed none of his work. It would be a strange use of money and time. people are strange, but it makes the world interesting

Story was not bad...
Revisado: 09-29-18
Could have been a lot better. The first 2 hours I kept thinking "how does this make someone snap?" The premise to one of my favorite Jack Daniels book was a let-down. Ending was the savior of the story, but it was like watching 2 hours of someone rowing a boat

This review contains NO Spoilers...
If you love Jack Daniels, this book fits like a glove. I read 'The List' first and I think people may like doing that. You'll get the few "inside jokes" among the main characters, and folks who are good predictors will be able to apply the jokes too early in 'The List', if you are going to read it. Also, it's fun to know these characters a bit first. I don't see any major benefit or drawback from reading 'Shaken' before or after, there really is no spoilers at all, it's just a fun cross -over.
I am hard to scare, but this book gave me a few pauses and that is saying A LOT!
I loved the ending, and for you clever readers, I will say nothing more.
The reader is excellent, not a single complaint from me.
Hope you enjoy it!

Revisado: 04-01-18
I loved this book. I listened with so much desire to hear more, I hadn't realized it was 5am. The narrators have so much voice talent! They really sell themselves as multiple people. I actually looked a second time to see how many narrators there were, because I couldn't believe it was 2. I
This book made me laugh, touched my heart, and shocked me. The format was very effective in making me care.

Historia
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

This is going to ruin my next book
Revisado: 02-02-18
I love finding a book that grabs my every fiber. That will keep me listening so late that there is no point in sleep and I will work 2 days straight and not get drowsy because every single break is like a jolt of "book caffeine ".
When it ends, it kills the next couple books because I want more of this one. I need more. I am in total withdrawal.
No regrets. Science, horror, psychopaths, and the characters are just intoxicating. Hope you enjoy

Historia
Sometimes the worst storms aren't from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren't the ones in our heads. Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world's news networks. As both the real world and the cyber world come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

Truly remarkable story
Revisado: 01-19-18
The story keeps rolling at a good pace with a reader that sounds like he really could be the main character, youthful and vibrant.
I was happily surprised that this disaster story was not the "classical" - most of the disaster stricken citizens immediately turn into criminals and hunt down the few innocent people.
This was real, people very diverse in reactions but plenty of examples of kindness, charity, and not wanting to be the bad guys. Still there is plenty of our insensitivity or foot in the mouths' moments that make us human.
There was comic relief, a toddler that sounds adorable to break the tension, and some very touching moments.
I recommend this to anyone really. I am not a tech person, I am not really into the prepping idea, and honestly I don't know what drew me to the book. I just started and was locked in. I listened at every moment and finished in under 2 days.
