Historia
The collapse of The Flow, the interstellar pathway between the planets of the Interdependency, has accelerated. Entire star systems - and billions of people - are becoming cut off from the rest of human civilization. This collapse was foretold through scientific prediction...and yet, even as the evidence is obvious and insurmountable, many still try to rationalize, delay and profit from, these final days of one of the greatest empires humanity has ever known.

Alex Lomax is the one and only private eye working the mean streets of New Klondike, the Martian frontier town that sprang up 40 years ago after Simon Weingarten and Denny O’Reilly discovered fossils on the Red Planet. Back on Earth, where anything can be synthesized, the remains of alien life are the most valuable of all collectibles, so shiploads of desperate treasure hunters stampeded to Mars in the Great Martian Fossil Rush.

Would you try another book from Chris Brogan and/or Chris Brogan?
No
What was most disappointing about Chris Brogan’s story?
Dull
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Chris Brogan?
Narration was fine.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None
Any additional comments?
This book is awful. Barely an intelligent thought in there. Even for someone who has never gone to Google+, or used it for more than 15 minutes, it's a waste of time since you could learn all told in the book in 15 minutes. For a decent book on Google and Google+, check out Jeff Jarvis' "What Would Google Do". There one learns something from a book riddled with intelligent and new ideas.

Historia
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress to be better than the print version?
Yes
What did you like best about this story?
Rich characters and something different.
Any additional comments?
Excellent and timeless science fiction. I had rather given up on older science fiction because the new stuff (Robert Sawyer, Vernor Vinge, et al) were so good. Went back to the 60's with this one and was amazed.

Science Fiction??
Revisado: 07-16-12
This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This isn't really science fiction and should be labelled as such. I LOVE everything else I've read/listened to by this author, but this book I did not like. It's a well-written and great story, but IT IS NOT science fiction. More like fantasy.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-30-12
Would you try another book from Robert J. Sawyer and/or Jeff Woodman?
Sawyer can write amazing stuff (Calculating God, WWW Trilogy, Starplex) but he is just as able to write average stuff like this one.
What was most disappointing about Robert J. Sawyer???s story?
Reasonably interesting but disappointing really. Not as deep a story as the author @RobertJSawyer can write. I'd guess it's watered down because it's written so it can be turned into a movie.
You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Wonderfully read by Jeff Woodman.

Historia
In this Hugo-nominated novel, Neanderthal physicist Ponter Boddit brings Canadian geneticist Mary Vaughan back to his world to explore the near-utopian civilization of the Neanderthals. Boddit serves as a Candide figure, the naive visitor whose ignorance about our society makes him a perfect tool to analyze human tendencies toward violence, over-population, and environmental degradation.

Reads more like a bad romance novel than science fiction. Robert Sawyer is usually absolutely excellent but this second book is terrible!

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.
