Historia
One L, Scott Turow's journal of his first year at law school and a best seller when it was first published in 1977, has gone on to become a virtual bible for prospective law students. Not only does it introduce with remarkable clarity the ideas and issues that are the stuff of legal education; it also brings alive the anxiety and competitiveness, with others and, even more, with oneself, that set the tone in this crucible of character building.

Good Story
Revisado: 03-12-09
You can really feel what the author is feeling as he writes in his journal about his first year. I don't agree with his politics, and think some of his fears may have been misplaced, but I haven't gone to Harvard Law School, so I can't comment further.

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

Great Book

Has everything I loved in Atlas Shrugged. A great story with philosophy and romanticism spun in. Definitely worth the credit!

Not his best work
Revisado: 03-12-09
His previous books were a little better. Some of my dislike for the book may have come from the narrator. He sounded like a bad high school actor trying to read his lines. He couldn't deliver.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

didn't care for the narrator
Revisado: 02-06-08
He was a little to chic windy or something for my taste. The book itself was ok, the facts introduced early on don't hold up later in the book. So, its a bit inconsistent. Get past that and you have a decent listen ahead.

Hard to listen to
Revisado: 05-16-07
The narrator's voice is pretty deep and is hard to understand to begin with, before the dull content. It starts out pretty funny, but then the author must have run out of material on page 8 or 9 so began repeating himself and adding a lot of filler. Sounds like the narrator got board as well as his monotone doesn't add any fun. I was pretty disappointed.

Narrator hurts this one
Revisado: 05-16-07
The book itself is pretty good, but the narrator
is annoying. Every scene is read in a voice that
sounds like she should be narrating for playboy. It's not easily described, really urgh!

talking down
Revisado: 12-23-05
The book is pretty good, in parts it repeated alot and felt like it was talking down to me. Picks up and gets more interesting about half way through.
