Historia
In this comprehensive history, Stanley Karnow demystifies the tragic ordeal of America's war in Vietnam. The book's central theme is that America's leaders, prompted as much by domestic politics as by global ambitions, carried the United States into Southeast Asia with little regard for the realities of the region. Karnow elucidates the decision-making process in Washington and Asia and recounts the political and military events that occurred after the Americans arrived in Vietnam.

I learned so much
Revisado: 10-12-22
Edward Holland's gravitas and reading skill is amazing! My high school graduation was in 1968 and I had regretted not joining the Marines back then instead of going to college right out of high school. Had I gone to war I may have regretted that too because it was " the wrong war". fought for "all the wrong reasons." This book filled in a lot of gaps for me. It's words strike emotions with every reminder and revelation of that time.

Historia
Actor Kelsey Grammer, best known for his roles in the TV sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, delivers Bitter Brew, a compelling mystery featuring Detective Bill Walsh, an upstate cop in the quiet, rural town of Beatriceville, 200 miles north of New York City, who suspects foul play in the death of millionaire city transplant Jonathan Kimball, even though the evidence points to suicide, not murder.

Great book and even better performance!
Revisado: 11-19-17
There is a combination of authenticity and familiar characters that I’ve learned about in all of the prior H Bosch novels that makes the continuation of the story so appealing.

A Thriller with Heart
Revisado: 06-11-17
I liked this novel for all of the reasons that I enjoy a good Thriller or Mystery novel. It was entertaining and held my interest to the end and I cared about at least one of the characters. However, The Short Drop was better than most because it had more heart and plot turns than it had gun fire. I'm on to the next in the series.

Historia
With The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Ship of Ghosts, James D. Hornfischer created essential and enduring narratives about America’s World War II Navy, works of unique immediacy distinguished by rich portraits of ordinary men in extremis and exclusive new information. Now he does the same for the deadliest, most pivotal naval campaign of the Pacific war: Guadalcanal. Neptune’s Inferno is at once the most epic and the most intimate account ever written of the contest for control of the seaways of the Solomon Islands.

I listened to this story while I exercised at the gym. It made me want to be as strong as the marines on Guadalcanal and as quick thinking as a destroyer captain.

Not a Reversal for Connelly
Revisado: 02-22-11
I buy audiobooks to keep me walking farther and exercising more. The Reversal really kept me out there. Peter Giles is a wonderful reader and Harry Bosch was on his game too. There were several reversals here. This book is good for more than one listen. Eden in Auburn
