Dahl has always been my favorite author, and made me feel less alone as a child. Andrew Scott does a fantastic job of reading Dahl’s writing in a gentle and soothing manner. His voices for different characters range from an excited Chris O'Dowd, to a pleasant Jude Law. I would recommend for any child or adult in need of a relaxing escape into the magnificent world of Roald Dahl.

Ok so the description said 6 stories, but there are really only 3 and none of them have real endings.

ALSO. The sample that I listened to before purchasing was no where in the book. I listened to the entire book and I’ll never know what happened with the tow truck driver.

The first story is slightly triggering if you ever had an abusive shitty bf when you were young. There are like 3 sex ‘scenes’ in this story, and I only found 1 of them hot enough. To be completely honest, if I hadn’t spent a credit on it I probably wouldn’t have made it past the first chapter, but I persisted. For me it didn’t get good until chapter 12, when they did a little professor/student role. Unfortunately the usable hotness lasts only about 5 minutes and then it’s back to being boring and problematic again.

The second story…is…bizarre to say the least. She’s a plague doctor and the premise is interesting but there’s no resolution or ending whatsoever. Is it part of a series? Is it an artistic ‘lady and the tiger’ approach? Either way, I came here to finish and I was denied.
There’s also a lot of really really gross shit. Not a spoiler, but a woman dies and decays early in the story. The author went into sickening detail about rotting flesh and maggots which I had to skip (not hot). Then there is another dead person at the end that essentially turns to goo and is very unsexy. There’s no ending or explanation to any of the weird messed up stuff, and again only like 3ish sex scenes, 1/3 hot enough to work with.

The third story, you’re a pr person dating a rock star. I thought, surely this is where the gang bangs i was promised in the opening credits must be hiding right? No. There were 0 gang bangs in the entire book. In fact, all the relationships were monogamous and at times unrealistically tender. The sex was all pretty vanilla, one partner per character and not nearly enough of it.

However, the narration was definitely hot. She has a sexy voice, and the writing wasn’t vulgar. I would’ve enjoyed the book I think if it had been properly described in the first place.

So to summarize; it was fine, but not what I came here for. It would be better suited as “portions of love stories with a few R rated scenes;” rather than erotic sex short stories. Stories have beginnings, middles and most importantly endings. If the stories continue in other books, that’s fine, but it should be marketed that way.

I actually found myself taking notes during the whole thing. I was planning on multitasking, but there's a section on that too lol 😂 Jessica's writing is relatable and very clearly spelled out. Gwendolyns narration is thoughtful and soothing. I would recommend.

At first I thought this was the literal old story of the pied Piper complete with magical flute. Imagine my surprise when the narrator began talking about murder.

I found it to be a good summary of the story, however, the author seemed to be a bit judgy of women. Calling Mary Finch "dumpy" and another "promiscuous/ admired prostitutes" for getting paid for what other girls gave away for free. The book might be old though. It's very factual and that's about all.
