Historia
For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent Grade-A extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

This is my favorite current series
Revisado: 09-03-24
Good narrator, And there is only one. Who has a gruff rouge voice. Ideal for an older man.
How this differs from the competition. And is a step above. Is that there is a lot of humor. Science Fiction without it is just a gore fest, ultimately not very interesting. The characters are well developed and act like humans, you know. Hating bureaucratic restriction from superiors, not in the field. Earth is not ever completely safe. But gets by, on bluff. The aliens are self interested. Individual aliens be allies or enemies. In that, it is much like Star Trek. It is formulaic only in that a series of events occur and the crew figures out how to resolve it. With somewhat complex plans. The series is long and you should start with the first book “Columbus Day” to understand how this book got to here.
I guess I just like the book and characters. They seem very human, instead of cardboard cut outs. But rarely give 5 stars. Enjoy!

Historia
The colonists from the Pathfinder have arrived on Kaguya, a planet with low gravity but a very dense atmosphere. It’s fun to jump around, but the air makes you loopy - and worse than that, the heavy atmosphere means that wind storms, although rare, are absolutely devastating. Zero and Nyx help to get everything locked down before the first big storm, but they stumble onto a group of thieves who have stolen some mining equipment. Before the kids have a chance to get away and tell anyone, the storm hits and the massive winds carry them far away.

It was free, so… I was hoping it would get better. The performances are good, but I got tired of the kids. So true Juvenile. If your kids are under 10. This the book for you.

NASA finally made it. The very first human has just set foot on the surface of our neighbor planet. This is the start of a long research expedition that sent four scientists into space. But the four astronauts of the NASA crew are not the only ones with this destination. The privately financed "Mars for Everyone" initiative has also targeted the Red Planet. Twenty men and women have been selected to live there and establish the first extraterrestrial settlement.

The narration makes you think this is a good story
Revisado: 04-07-23
But… I guess I have to post like most. Give a one star. But… it is difficult to write a book. There are vaguely good elements, interesting topic (Mars). But as story telling, very very poor. If it intended to be satire. Or even humorous. That would be one thing. I write this as an opinion of a life long SF reader. There is no chance I will ever read a book by this author again. Sorry I wasted a credit on this.

Historia
When the biggest colony ship in human history was sent to settle a paradise world, an accident hurtled it deep into uncharted space. A thousand light years from Earth, with no way home and no way to call for help, the colonists’ only hope for survival was the one barely habitable planet in range, a nightmare world they named Croatoan. Landing on the only five mountain peaks tall enough to rise above the lethal acid clouds, the settlers carved a civilization from the rock.

Historia
Two framed soldiers turned Liberators, an unhinged Vice-Admiral with mass murder on his mind, and a new rebellion. After deserting the Sarkonian Empire and stealing one of their best stealth ships, Alyss Cortez and Farah Shahi knew it would be like this. Always looking over their shoulder for a far-reaching enemy. But they aren't running or hiding. Instead, the pair are accepting search and rescue jobs and planning to take down Vice-Admiral-Kaska, antimission by antimission. Except that they didn't expect things to go so wrong.

Reminds me a lot of “Legends of Tommorow”
Revisado: 11-27-22
It is a story, full of tropes. Not that funny. And not much philosophy. The science, where present, is nonsense. So entertaining, but like chewing gum that lasts about 10 minutes. It could be any time in the past, present, or future. The only thing slightly entertaining are the relationship between character. It is worth what I paid for it, free.

Historia
At various times in a span of fifteen years, John McPhee made geological field surveys in the company of Eldridge Moores, a tectonicist at the University of California at Davis. The result of these trips is Assembling California, a cross-section in human and geologic time, from Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada through the golden foothills of the Mother Lode and across the Great Central Valley to the wine country of the Coast Ranges, the rock of San Francisco, and the San Andreas family of faults.

But… The narrator, while clear, can’t seem to pronounce most of the Geologic time terms. Nor Ne Va Da. Not Ne Vaahhh Da. As a result it spreads ignorance. I recently saw the results in Outer Range. If you are a trained Geologist it is jarring.

Historia
Robert A. Heinlein is widely and justly regarded as the greatest practitioner of the art of science fiction who has ever lived. Here are two of his greatest short novels: Gulf, in which the greatest super-spy of them all is revealed as the leader of a league of supermen and women who can’t quite decide what to do with the rest of us. And Lost Legacy, in which it is proved that we are all members of that league - or would be, if we but had eyes to see.

Revisado: 09-02-21
It is neither a short story collection nor a book. With at least 10 unrelated “main” characters. All 5 books / sections / chapters are good. It is RAH. But… they are defiantly unrelated. The narration is excellent.

Historia
Conrad Nomikos has a long, rich personal history that he'd rather not talk about. And as arts commissioner, he's been given a job he'd rather not do. Escorting an alien grandee on a guided tour of the shattered remains of Earth is not something he relishes - especially since it is apparent that this places him at the center of high-level intrigue that has some bearing on the future of Earth itself.

This is NOT a dystopian novel. It was topical for 1966. And good for an early career work. It is about colonization. And… “magical spirts”.

Historia
A legend in his own lifetime, John Hance (1837–1919) was synonymous with early Grand Canyon tourism. Between the late 1880s and early 1900s, to say “John Hance” was to say “Grand Canyon.” Hance was well known to travelers and visiting dignitaries alike, men such as William “Buffalo Bill” Cody and Theodore Roosevelt, the president who affectionately referred to him as “the greatest liar on Earth.” It was said that Hance tried to jump the canyon on his horse Darby only to turn back when he was halfway over and realized he would never make it across.

Interesting. This is a straight history based on the friends and family of John Hance.
Revisado: 04-20-21
John Hance was famous as a liar / Tall Tale Teller. And, apparently, left few written records. Therefore this author created a history of “life after the Civil War” in Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico and Arizona. It is surprising who Hance was “probably” friends of and related to who, apparently, are better documented. Apparently it is not possible to reconstruct what John Hance’s stories like, except one or two, often repeated stories. But he was a “typical” AZ pioneer. Because I’m listening to the book, I wish the narrator would pronounce the names of the towns and rivers correctly. Rolle is “Rolla”, Gila is not “Gill-a”, and it was only said once. But Dine, (Dineh) was far from correct. Prescott was a mixed lot, in terms of pronunciation. That is; it was pronounced several different ways. Sometimes correctly, rhyming with Biscuit. However, the narration was very easy to listen to. No accent. He just should have better studied some place names.
