slow but beautifully written and narrated
Revisado: 12-07-21
This is book I listen to when it's time to wind down and do my night time routine. Its got that "spicy storytime for adults" kind of aesthetic. The plot isn't thrilling, but it tickles my need for romance with a dark, broody man. There's not that many sex scenes, but they do get explicit!

Historia
As an African tightrope dancer in Victorian London, Iris is used to being strange. She is certainly an unusual sight for leering British audiences always eager for the spectacle of colonial curiosity. But Iris also has a secret that even “strange” doesn’t capture…. She cannot die. Haunted by her unnatural power and with no memories of her past, Iris is obsessed with discovering who she is. But that mission gets more complicated when she meets the dark and alluring Adam Temple, a member of a mysterious order called the Enlightenment Committee

cool lore with thirsty "love polygons"
Revisado: 12-01-21
I love romance, fantasy, and good lore and this is a good mix for me. While it's set in London, there's a heavy focus on racism and African culture. Nearly every character in this book had a crush or admiration of some sort with the main character, so that was a treat, haha! Sometimes I roll my eyes at how thirsty everyone seems to be, but I'm here for fun, not realism. I could tell the author is inspired by anime by some of the action scenes and cliches that are sprinkled throughout the book, and it was cool experiencing it in written form.
To me, it was such a unique and thrilling read.

Fun read with charming characters
Revisado: 10-21-21
I loved the lore and characters. It's a fun light read. The story seemed a little... shallow? There's some world building, but the stakes didn't seem high enough for a sci-fi book for me to get really invested in what happens. The characters were still very cute and I do love romance, so I stuck around for that!
If you like books that don't get too dark, but still have that adventure/scifi elements, and cute banter, then this might be good for you!

like listening to a movie
Revisado: 03-04-21
The fights were so descriptive and the world so immersive! I loved the difference between the two MCs, especially the 'big guy with a big heart' trope. The romance was light but present, and the two MCs were cute together. The fight scenes and fantasy politics definitely was what kept my attention.

I crave some good old love "triangles" and amazing fantasy world building, and this hit the spot. So many secrets, betrayals, and surprises. I gasped and squealed every other chapter!

the only reason I stuck around was because its about Ahsoka. I'm not sure if anyone who isn't a fan of the show or character would find this a good read.
