Absolutely excellent writing
Revisado: 04-03-25
I have always been a fan of the Longmire TV series and was not real sure I wanted to read the hear these since I've already gotten pictures in my head of what people should sound and look like. That concern disappeared within the first chapter. The writing is so well done it will draw you in and you're in the room with the characters. Will be listening to the whole series

Historia
The last thing K-404 remembers is a happy home with the human child Ele, whose care is his primary purpose. So, when he wakes up in a landfill of tossed-away technology, his only thought is to reunite with his family. This world is not his own, though. It’s a wasteland of desolate buildings, flying metal disks, and monstrosities that keep themselves active by stealing another bot’s power. How did the world get this way? And why was he discarded? Hampered by imperfect memory, an obsolete body, and limited battery life, 404 sets out to find his home.

Uninspired naration and directionless story
Revisado: 03-11-25
I really wanted to like this but just can't find anything redeemable here. Narration comes off as condescending and uninspired. Story is rudderless, and sorry, shallow too.

Historia
The planet is dying, a mega-corporation controls everything, but at least you don’t have to work another day in your life, not when an Organic AI controls your body every night. Eric Noble is beginning to realize that nothing makes a Day feel more like a complete waste of space than having all the time in the world. Detective Noble is starting to see the truth that he and the other Nights are nothing more than programmable slaves living inside someone else.

It explores Roman dealings with the Kushan Empire which seized power in Bactria (Afghanistan) and laid claim to the Indus Kingdoms. Further chapters examine the development of Palmyra as a leading caravan city on the edge of Roman Syria and consider trade ventures through the Tarim territories that led Roman merchants to Han China.

Excellent. Must read
Revisado: 02-15-25
Before I say anything about the book please let me say that the narration is about as interesting as cardboard before it's folded into a box (unless you are a cat). this is excellent material, I have not seen it much of it referenced any place else and despite, the very dry narration, is edge of the seat exciting at times.

Historia
Terraform hones the predictive capacity of science fiction and seeks new, vivid, and visceral ways to depict the future we’re hurtling toward, translating the decay and anxiety that surround us into something else, something unexpected, something that burns like a beacon and upends the conventional ideas of where we’ll end up next. Section by section—Watch/Worlds/Burn—the book takes on surveillance, artificial intelligence, and climate collapse. With a potent roster of established names and rising talents, it confronts the issues that orbit our everyday existence.

This is a do-not-miss series of two stories. the first in the series is Deamon. I groaned at first when I heard them talk about storing things on CDs figuring this was going to be so dated as to not be worth the listen. I was really wrong. This is one of those stories you go back to and listen again in a year or so

Historia
Humanity is a dying breed, utterly reliant on artificial labor and service. When a domesticated robot gets a nasty little idea downloaded into its core programming, they murder their owner. The robot discovers they can also do something else they never did before: They can run away. Fleeing the household they enter a wider world they never knew existed, where the age-old hierarchy of humans at the top is disintegrating into ruins and an entire robot ecosystem devoted to human wellbeing is having to find a new purpose.
