As a fan of the Joe Ledger series, you always wondered what would happen if Joe or Mr. Church ended up in a SHTF scenario. Well this is it. Definitely a great story and I love the cameos of old Joe Ledger series characters. PLEASE continue this story line ASAP. It is what all the fans have wanted.

I love these books, this one lost me a bit.

The Joe Ledger novels are among some of my favorite stories. They take the reader into a deep, dark and action packed world of a spec ops team saving the world. This story had very little of that. It felt repetitive and uneventful. It regurgitates past plot lines while trying to take a dig at our current administration. This book just didn’t do it for me.

Good story, ending a bit weak

While a good story, this should have been a 3-4 book series. 2 books makes too short of a platform for the story to wrap up properly. The ending is almost abrupt and leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

Love Maberry, but story was a bit repetitive

Jonathan Maberry is one of my favorite authors with one of my favorite book series, the Joe Ledger novels. That being said, this compilation of short stories was repetitive and lackluster with a touch of running in place. The story lines would start strong and draw you in but ultimately end in the same manner. Each story would include the same lines from the character over and over, i.e. "I hate people that hurt women and children", "once I take on a case, the client becomes part of my pack" and "I didn't take money from the client". It would have been refreshing to see how Sam Hunter dealt with a case that didn't involve women and children and if he actually cashed a damn check once in a while. How the hell does he pay for anything? Overall the compilation wasn't terrible but I was expecting a lot more out of it.

The Joe Ledger novels have seemingly become my favorite series...and I listen to a LOT of books. They hold everything that an action thriller should, and so much more. Though the format stays generally the same, it never gets old, it never gets boring and it never ever isn't entertaining as hell. A great story as always and I am begging for more. Thank you Jonathan Maberry.
