Historia
At 19, almost 20, Ron Bancroft is newly out as transgender and finds himself adrift: kicked out by his family, jilted by his girlfriend, and unable to afford to return to college in the fall. So he heads out to Wyoming for a new start, a chance to prove that - even though he was raised as a girl, even though everyone in Boston thinks of him as transgender - he can live as a man. A real man. In Wyoming, he finds what he was looking for: rugged terrain, wranglers, and a clean slate. He also stumbles into a world more dangerous than he imagined, one of bigotry and violence.

The challenges one faces in this world!
Revisado: 05-03-25
I finished this book yesterday, and I saw many similiarities in Ron's struggle as I have seen with some family members. I plan to share this book with some colleagues soon. I do not want to ruin this story for anyone so I will not share many plot details, but as someone with some experience with this struggle because of a family member facing this challenge, I saw things some people may not.
I had the pleasure of meeting the author in Brewster, MA at a UU Church event earlier this month. He was speaking at an event that another friend of mine was speaking at. Alex and I spoke and he mentioned that Scott Turner Schofield was reading one of his books, so I asked which one. He told me, and I ordered it when I got home. I explained how I had met Scott years ago and we stayed in contact.
If you want to learn what struggles some people in the world still face, this can be a challenging read. I think that the backstory is interesting as to how and why Ron does what he does.
I do not regret purchasing this book and will share it with others soon.

What a tale!
Revisado: 02-15-25
I have been a fan of his works with the USS BullShark and someone suggested some Scott Jarvis titles. I will not share any final details, but I will say this, it flowed nicely, it kept my attention and the reader was solid and spoke clealry and knew how to pronounce everything.. I think as you listen and get into this story, if you have read any of his other works, you will get drawn in and listen intently so you do not miss anything!
Thank you Scott!

Not what I expected.
Revisado: 12-01-22
I was very disappointed in this book. I don't know how many times it said expletive deleted but that took away from the story. I have read many books by the author and his father over the years and everything is usually fantastic. There we're chronological issues I found.
I had been looking at this book for a long time and I'm sorry it was not what I expected.

Historia
When Chuck Tatum began Marine boot camp, he was just a smart-aleck teenager eager to serve his country. Little did he know that he would be training under a living legend of the Corps - Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone, who had almost single-handedly fought off a Japanese force of three thousand on Guadalcanal.

an interesting and thoughtful story.
Revisado: 02-24-22
I enjoyed the story a great deal. it was very easy to follow most of the time. I believe there was like 8 to 10 spots where comments were stated again which seemed redundant.
