weird focus on sex

pov characters for the most part are minors so the constant focus on sex is weird, this in combination with the characters maturity makes the decision to have all the perspective characters 15-17 feel kinda gross. This story also heavily discusses sexual misconduct including rape, NC, assault, mutilation, grooming, ect. while I understand these topics do need to be discussed as all topics need to such as racism, genocide, crime, ect. it becomes a problem when the actors used to discusses these topics are minors and the focus of the plot and story are rail roaded into these topics to the exclusion of all else. especially for an entire book. Aside from those gripes I love the world building and narration, I'd love for another author to write a series in this world/universe

good overall, a stroke of luck or a lazy mistake?

There are reviews saying that the pre-recorded skill names are lazy but I think they make what could be a confusing sentence into one with a clear meaning, an example being the skill endurance, if you said "He's put a lot into endurance" without any switch in tone or italization it makes it nearly impossible to know if they're talking about the skill context or not

This is extremely good science fiction. The story just dives into an extremely fast pace from the very beginning. The characters are instant classics. I can not recommend this story enough!

I particularly enjoyed the choice of narrator for this piece. The story felt a little too forced into a politically correct gender conversation, but the author did express that this was her intention. Good plot; great pacing. Violent.
