Historia
Drawing on a variety of sources from film, literature, and popular culture, and analyzing different historical moments, including the establishment of the Wilderness Act in 1964 and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Finney reveals the perceived and real ways in which nature and the environment are racialized in America. Looking toward the future, she also highlights the work of African Americans who are opening doors to greater participation in environmental and conservation concerns.

Historia
John Seibert Farnsworth's delightful notes are not only about nature but from nature as well. In Nature Beyond Solitude, he lets us peer over his shoulder as he takes his notes. We follow him to a series of field stations where he teams up with scientists, citizen scientists, rangers, stewards, and grad students engaged in long-term ecological study, all the while scribbling down what he sees, hears, and feels in the moment.

Camp is a four letter word!
Revisado: 06-27-20
I like nature. I like to look at nature through the glass of my car window or from a lovely hotel room. Yet, I was captured by Farnsworth‘s dedication and curiosity in the field. Thank God he ventured into the poison oak for me, because (even though to an outdoor-wimp like me, parts of it seemed like a horror movie), it felt like I was the one making some of these fascinating discoveries!

Historia
Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey are unquestionably two of the greatest epic masterpieces in Western literature. Though more than 2,700 years old, their stories of brave heroics, capricious gods, and towering human emotions are vividly timeless. The Iliad can justly be called the world’s greatest war epic. The terrible and long-drawn-out siege of Troy remains one of the classic campaigns. The Odyssey chronicles the many trials and adventures Odysseus must pass through on his long journey home from the Trojan wars to his beloved wife.

Tony Heald's voice will take you there!
Revisado: 06-24-17
As accessible as a covers action and as dynamic as Shakespearean drama, Tony Heald's reading of the Odyssey is superb!
