For childhood friends Gabe, Xavier, Tavo, Paul, and Bimbo, death has always been close. Hurricanes. Car accidents. Gang violence. Suicide. Estamos rodeados de fantasmas was Gabe’s grandmother’s refrain. We are surrounded by ghosts. But this time is different. Bimbo's mom has been shot dead. We’re gonna kill the guys who killed her Bimbo swears. And they all agree.

Historia
Hello to you, I am with news. I have a new book: I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You. I know – what an intriguing title! Basically, I have had an unexpectedly difficult decade – there have been surprising joys but also deep revelations and challenging lows. I shall be honest about those, because what I discovered in the difficult times were my, what I call, treasures.

Revisado: 11-13-24
I love the Miranda-esque way she presented her journey as well as the content provided. I've always found her books and comedy to be soothing for the soul and this one was no different. I am forever grateful for the treasure of Miranda Hart and they ways she's help me to be me.

After getting a note demanding his presence, Federal Agent Aaron Falk arrives in his hometown for the first time in decades to attend the funeral of his best friend, Luke. Twenty years ago when Falk was accused of murder, Luke was his alibi. Falk and his father fled under a cloud of suspicion, saved from prosecution only because of Luke’s steadfast claim that the boys had been together at the time of the crime. But now, more than one person knows they didn’t tell the truth back then, and Luke is dead.

Not bad.
Revisado: 01-11-24
I like the set up at first but something about the writing style was a bit jarring. I don't know if the narrator reading everything (even the omniscient bits) in Faulk's voice made it that way. The whodunit part was a bit underwhelming and felt very stitched in at the end. I think adding more crumbs through out (about gambling or even gaming machines) would have made it more meaningful.

Good Not Great
Revisado: 09-08-23
I love Holly's character but this book didn't seem to have the same Holly I used to which I attribute to two things: a different narrator and she's "growing up."
Justine Lupe has a wonderful voice, but I missed Will Patton.
Something about this book didn't strike the same chords as other stories that feature her, but that doesn't mean it's not worth listening to. I liked the plot but think it could have been written as a short story instead of a novel.

Historia
Hazel Sinnett is alone and half-convinced the events of the year before—the immortality, Beecham’s vial—were a figment of her imagination. She doesn’t even know if Jack is alive or dead. All she can really do now is treat patients and maintain Hawthornden Castle as it starts to decay around her. When saving a life leads to her arrest, Hazel seems doomed to rot in prison until a message intervenes: Hazel has been specifically requested to be the personal physician of Princess Charlotte, the sickly granddaughter of King George III.

Finished it but didn't love it
Revisado: 05-07-23
I liked this book more in theory than actuality. The concept of book 1 was delightful, but felt cheapened by the more fantastical elements which were doubled down on in the book. The style is well written as with the last book but some of the character logic through out the story seemed more like author intrusion. Without containing spoilers, I found Hazel's thinking about Jack to be forced and seemingly out of her character. While we all have foibles when it comes to thinking with the heart hers seemed ridiculous and prolong for the sheer drama of it. I would have much preferred her thinking to be correct with an alternative ending than to have such incongruous characterization. 🤷♀️

Historia
Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

I loved this from beginning to end. It's funny, sweet, and freeing. Miranda's comedy is like medicine for my soul. Word from the wise, don't listen to while exercising. I would laugh so hard it became disruptive to my workout. 🤣

Another great book from North
Revisado: 03-02-23
This novel is different style than North's previous novels but equally fantastic. I love his ability to portray the evils carried out by humans as some bordering on super natural. The story is more of a slow burn, but worth the journey.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Easy Listen and Overall, Pretty Good
Revisado: 09-30-22
I wanted to love this book, but certain elements made the overall storyline fall flat. I think the story is good not great. The plot is pretty predictable but not unenjoyable. I really enjoyed the concepts and the writing was good. I just have some criticisms of choices the author made regarding the explanation of library and the creation of the character Hugo, who's mere existence took away from the story, for me anyway.

I feel like King showed his bookworm status in this book. This book is intriguing and well-written from start to finish, I loved every second. This story is like the love child of King's imagination with so many story from Lovecraft, Bradbury, to Grimm.
