I was a “Monster Kid” and “The Weird Kid, The Horror Movie Kid.” I found out early…horror is always personal. Now I make horror for a living. It shouldn’t just be WATCHED. Horror should be ENJOYED. This isn’t some stuffy analysis telling you what’s good or bad. Instead, it’s a tour of the 1930s through the 1980s—a personal account of how the best and worst of this era gave us so many memories and experiences that impacted our own lives. It’s fun…just how horror should always be.

Fantastic, read!
Revisado: 06-26-23
Not only is this book a good horror movie reference for the 70s and the 80s, it is also a very well written coming of age memoir with dashes of history mixed in for good measure.
Highly recommended for any horror movie buff.

Good stories, bad narrator
Revisado: 05-01-23
The stories in this book are interesting and it's a good collection. However, the narrator does not know when to pause. It feels like he is talking too fast and is not stopping to take breaks between paragraphs. It's hard to listen to and gets confusing.

My favorite horror movie podcast
Revisado: 01-03-23
I have been listening to Mikey and Matty for years. It's like sitting with two old friends talk about the movies you know and love. Mostly 80's and 90's, but not exclusive, the podcast covers topics from best soundtrack songs to best waterfront movie. And they do a lot of commentary episodes that are great. If you love horror movies from that era, it's worth a listen!

Terrific book!
Revisado: 07-21-21
First let me know I don't understand people complaining about Adrienne Kings narration. I think she did a fantastic job and really enjoyed listening to the book.
Story wise, it's very clever. It does lag a little in the middle but overall is well paced. Characters are fleshed out. Lots of twists and turns. Amazing ending! Can't wait to see what they do with this material in the upcoming TV show.

Everyone thought Pam and Karen lived a very normal life but little did they know that behind the scenes, it was anything but normal. Sisters being two years apart, they were opposite in many ways but their connection to each other and the other dimensions takes the listener on a real-life chilling journey. Through their eyes, you will experience terrifying premonitions, ghostly encounters, and demonic attacks that they endured starting at age three, going through life beginning with the innocent apparition of what they thought was Popeye to the most demonic spirit attacks.

Fun listen, but a little far fetched.
Revisado: 04-23-21
It is supposedly rare to see a full body ghost. The number of ghosts, ghost dogs, demon dogs, demon bugs and giant demons these sisters have seen would make The Warrens jealous. Every place they have ever lived or visited seems to have something. Maybe they are trying to get their own movie universe!
It is a fun read though, and the narrators are great. However, they consistently use OMGee and WTH like teenagers and it can really take you right out of the story.

Revisado: 11-11-20
I have mixed feelings about this book. It took awhile to hold my attention. And honestly there were times I didn't particularly like the author. But once it started going, I couldn't stop listening.
The stories are incredulous. Almost soap opera crazy at times with so many characters, adultery and death in addition to the over the top haunting. It makes the Amityville Horror look like child's play.
If you enjoy a good personal account of hauntings, I would recommend it.

Fantastic book! When I finished I really wanted to quit my job and travel around the country! Anna is funny, charming and real. She gives you a birds eye view of what it's like to travel through our country with fresh eyes. I was a little sad that my state was just a footnote (Pa) but I loved hearing about all the amazing places she saw.

Great overview of horror movie fans!
Revisado: 07-29-20
This book looks at movies from almost a century, starting with M and ending with The Lighthouse. The truth accounts are harrowing, and often graphic in nature. As a fan of horror movies, most I was familiar with but there were some I was not. I wish the author would have spent a little more time on the movies as they are usually summarized in a few minutes while the true events are in great detail. But it was a good read, and well narrated!
