Historia
Forty years ago Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky wrote a series of breathtakingly original studies undoing our assumptions about the decision-making process. Their papers showed the ways in which the human mind erred systematically when forced to make judgments about uncertain situations. Their work created the field of behavioral economics, revolutionized Big Data studies, advanced evidence-based medicine, led to a new approach to government regulation, and made Michael Lewis' work possible.

My least favorite Michael Lewis, but still excellently written
Revisado: 03-31-24
I found that subject not as interesting as others I’ve read by Michael Lewis - about finance or sports. But it is, as always, very well written.

Historia
A visit to the local village fete for a spot of fun and relaxation turns into a nightmare for Agatha Raisin when she discovers the body of the local landowner in the woods with an arrow in his chest and trousers round his ankles. Agatha’s old adversary, Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes, declares the death a tragic accident, believing the victim has been hit by a stray arrow from an archery demonstration. Agatha is convinced of foul play, however, and is shocked when Wilkes eventually agrees … with her as his prime murder suspect.

This feels like classic Agatha Raisin, which I haven’t found to be strictly true with the last couple of books. And I LOVE Penelope Keith as narrator ❤️

I adore Agatha Raisin and love reading about her adventures ❤️. This story, one of the early ones, is a classic. I’ve listened to it many times and enjoy it every time. Penelope Keith is my favorite narrator of all time. She could make the phone book seem fascinating!!

Historia
Agatha Raisin's neighboring village of Ancombe is usually the epitome of quiet rural charm, but the arrival of a new mineral-water company - which intends to tap into the village spring - sends tempers flaring and divides the parish council into two stubborn camps. When Agatha, who happens to be the PR person for the water company, finds the council chairman murdered at the spring, tongues start wagging. Could one of the council members have silenced the chairman before he could cast the deciding vote?

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Wonderful, satisfying read
Revisado: 02-19-20
Incredibly well written, and well read, in beautiful English/Scottish accents, I fell in love with Eleanor. The deep sadness in Eleanor’s life is told largely through humor, which is a difficult juxtaposition to get right, but the author does. Finishing the book, I felt lifted - it was a real pick-me-up. Although I will miss Eleanor and her incredible wit and idiosyncrasies for some time to come....
Ms. Honeyman’s words are pure poetry - she is a true artist.
