Historia
In these classic essays, which began as talks on the BBC during World War II, Lewis creatively and simply explains the basic tenets of Christianity. Taken from the core section of Mere Christianity, this book provides an accessible way for people to discover these timeless truths. For those looking to remind themselves of what they hold true, or those looking for a snapshot of Christianity, this book is a wonderful introduction to the faith.

Brilliant, efficient, mind-blowing, and spot on!

This is short but brilliant, relevant for someone who doesn't know much about Christianity or someone who has been Christian all their lives — and that's hard to pull off! The narrator is one of my favorite ever, and I'm glad there's tons of Lewis that he narrates. I grew up evangelical Protestant but listened to C.S. Lewis enough to get hungry for something deeper and became Orthodox. (He nudged me along the way in my search, but wasn't himself the one who helped me cross that conversion point.) What he says here fits in with Orthodoxy (especially as he deals with the atonement), as I understand it, though Lewis never became Orthodox. There might be some parts that some Protestants raise their eyebrows at, especially evangelicals, but they'll still largely agree that Lewis represents Christianity well.

Historia
In this work, David C. Downing explores the breadth of Lewis's writing, introducing us to the context of Christian mysticism in Lewis's day and the writers who most influenced him. Lewis's critique of mysticism is instructive to us in this day of eclectic religious thought. Exploring Lewis's sense of the mystical can help us safeguard ourselves from false mysticism, even as it opens the way to a full experience of God's presence - the "region of awe."

I listen to it again and again

I'm a huge C.S. Lewis fan, and this book really helped me understand his works better, especially the Space Trilogy. But even beyond the connection to C.S. Lewis, this book is fantastic as a summary and explanation of Christian mysticism, from Paul to Augustine to Teresa of Avila and Julian of Norwich. I love the content, and the narrator is EXCELLENT.
