Historia
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

His voice, his story.
Revisado: 11-28-23
No matter what your opinion is of Harry, it is heartfelt and informing to hear his story from his perspective. He didn’t ask to be born into that gilded cage as much as anyone else asks to be born into their respective families. He survived his mother be killed while being relentlessly pursued by the paps only to navigate that grief with an emotionally unavailable family. I appreciate hearing his perspective and will not be clicking or picking up any of the crap Rupert Murdock puts out for the foreseeable future. I truly wish Harry, Meghan, and their children the best as they navigate their lives in this world.
The number of people who have spent time writing paragraphs long reviews of this book is disturbing (Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?). So much opinion about someone else’s life that they could only have formulated through the eyes of a lying press. Some of these reviews are just as bad as the press he writes about. Pick up the book if you want a candid peak into Harry’s life and the lives of the royal family.

Historia
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Great insight
Revisado: 01-02-21
Love the meditations he suggests at the end. I agree with him that the suggestions and tools are timeless... and so needed right now. I will be going back to book marked areas in this book because they were so helpful/insightful—something I can’t say I do often with audible books. Definitely recommend.

Get ready to cry.
Revisado: 08-27-16
This book was very difficult for me to read… Too close to my reality. Being a physician, I hesitated for over six months to read it. In many ways I'm not surprised I loved reading it... psychology, sociology, humanity, medicine, philosophy... He covers much of the core content of our existence. I have only two criticisms… Neurosurgeons are not the best doctors - they are often too busy to take care of the whole patient. In fact, no particular type of physician is the best… this gave me a sort of narcissistic visceral reaction. Each type of physician is needed in their own way. My second criticism is that he continued to work himself to the bone while he was sick and had a chance to heal... When he should've been taking care of himself. The hours and rigor of residency, especially surgical residency, is no place for a cancer patient needing to heal. So often those of us in medicine feel that we have to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good… But sometimes I think we need to step away and take care of ourselves. There is a serious problem with this sacrificial, obsessive-compulsive, competitive mentality that is rewarded in medicine - this mentality is probably the greatest contributor to our new ranking as the occupation at highest risk for suicide. I loved his passion and drive. I loved his message and how he was vulnerable, revealing his weaknesses as best he could. This is a timeless, profound, and tragic story. I wish the best for his family.

Historia
In What Doctors Feel, Dr. Danielle Ofri has taken on the task of dissecting the hidden emotional responses of doctors, and how these directly influence patients. How do the stresses of medical life - from paperwork to grueling hours to lawsuits to facing death - affect the medical care that doctors can offer their patients? Digging deep into the lives of doctors, Ofri examines the daunting range of emotions - shame, anger, empathy, frustration, hope, pride, occasionally despair, and sometimes even love - that permeate the contemporary doctor-patient connection.

From a non-burnt out physicians perspective...
Revisado: 01-31-15
I think this is great for medical students to read, but not for experienced caring doctors. To the physicians out there: It's essentially a story of how to feel for your patients again… If you feel very far from your ability to do that, then this is a good read for you. I felt it was like a review of the empathy taught in doctoring 1 of medical school. Her choice of words at times seemed out of place and awkward, but was overall well constructed. I felt she did touch on most areas of medicine that physicians struggle with emotionally.

What did you love best about 8 Habits of Love?
I love that Ed Bacon gives examples of each habit and how you can implement them into your life.
What was one of the most memorable moments of 8 Habits of Love?
The sections of forgiveness and candid conversations resonated deeply with me. I felt he explained the importance of learning these habits very well and allowed me to examine where I feel challenged.
