Good Story Line - Poor choice of narrator.
Revisado: 02-21-23
It is a rather good historic novel with realistic plots.
Unfortunately, the performance of the narrator was abysmal.
Elizabeth Jasicki treated the book with a distinct lack of any show of interest in what she was reading. There was little to no attempt to imagine how each character would deliver each line.
She delivers each speech and the narrative with exactly the same drawling voice as if she could not care a less for the tale, what a disappointment!
I suppose it could be best used to bore the listener to sleep.

What a Treat.
Revisado: 10-30-22
This is a treat for all the family. It is a good clean fun way of dealing with the rigours of East Enders through two world wars and the up and downs in between.
Mary Staples brings every character to life with an individuality that is special to each. Their hopes, their aspirations, their secrets and their romances.
This is set against a backdrop of war times, deprivations and the grit of a proud people.
Well done Mary Jane.
