The story was very special. Filled with joy and possibilities. I wish I could go there, meet those people and belong in a place like that.

Can't get much better than that combination! I've read all of this series and it's very fun. The narrator has been the same on all three and she has made the personality of the main character very fun! Plus, the cat is a riot! I look forward to more coming out and I hope that the same narrator is performing.

Historia
August in Lake Potawatomi, Wisconsin, always means one thing: the annual baking contest. Picture The Great British Baking Show, writ Midwestern. It's a huge draw for the upper crust of Wisconsin pastry aficionados. And, of course, bon vivant baker-turned-mystery writer Teddie St. John has a pie in the ring. The white vinyl baking tent boasts an array of folding tables housing each entrant's daily baked good. And at one of those tables sits the corpse of the head judge, his face half-buried in a delectable coconut cream pie.

Cozy mysteries are such a great type of book. You can get comfortable. The character are likable (mostly) and everything feels safe until someone dies. This author does a great job with this kind of book. This narrator is fun to listen to as she works her way through the characters and the murder!

A country I don't know. A time in history that is foreign as well. I learned much and found that even in unusual times, people really aren't much different. The narrator was excellent. It was easy to understand and follow what was happening in the local lands as well as the traveling that was required.

Had no idea what I was listening to!
Revisado: 10-28-22
People older than me or those into "famous people" or those that just catch on fast.... will pick up this story quickly. It's interesting and it seems like most people like to watch how the wealthy live. Especially if someone with less might get a break. I found it because of one of the narrators. I figured it was worth listening to. I think I reviewed another book where there were 3 narrators. This one would have been better with just one narrator. Caroline Hewitt could have done all the parts...she had to do them at her intervals anyway.

Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

This is a great story! This woman is brilliant, fearless, determined and so much more. I was first introduced to her on another Audible book with this same Narrator and it was amazing!!! I've watched movies, read books, etc. Ms. Hewitt, the narrator, seems to know this character very well and I say that after listening to the other book too! It's worth it to listen!!

This is not a book I would normally choose as a priority but one of my favorite narrators chose to read it so here I am! And it was really good! I may sound surprised but that's because the book took a number of turns that I would never have expected when I started. Listen....it's worth it!

An interesting tie with history!
Revisado: 10-28-22
This is not usually my preferred kind of audio-book. Multiple narrators can be confusing and I usually like one more than another. In this case, I chose this book because of one narrator. What became an advantage, is that there was little cross-over between the 3 parts. The two historical roles were not in the same social circle so it wasn't confusing and the "present day" character broke things up and made sense. It was very interesting following the Mona Lisa's path. The narrator I follow in this case is Caroline Hewitt and in my opinion the book could have been done by her with no confusion.

Just Lovely!
Revisado: 10-28-22
What a sweet book. I felt myself smiling at the story, at the lessons being learned. There are not many books where I want to simply be in the location of the book and watch what is happening, up close. The narrator made it possible for me to feel that I was as close as I could be... or actually there!

Brutal and awe-inspiring
Revisado: 10-28-22
This book has been in my library for weeks. I read reviews and spoke with people. Many stories came to me about the people in this book and I was afraid to listen to the book itself. I knew it was intense, difficult, sad and more. Wasn't even sure I could "do it" but it was worth every minute. The story is amazing. The Narrator introduces the two characters to us and at different times I'm not sure I even like them, however, Ms. Hewitt portrayal of all of the characters and her performance all the way through to the conclusion accentuates the value of Ms. Robuck's writing.
