Historia
Matthew Arnold praised the Iliad for its "nobility", as has everyone ever since - but ancient critics praised it for its enargeia, its "bright unbearable reality" (the word used when gods come to earth, not in disguise but as themselves). To retrieve the poem's energy, Alice Oswald has stripped away its story, and her account focuses by turns on Homer's extended similes and on the brief 'biographies' of the minor war-dead, most of whom are little more than names, but each of whom lives and dies unforgettably - and unforgotten - in the copiousness of Homer's glance.

This was a tough one. It is great poetry. Narrator nearly kills this audiobook. Shame.

Historia
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

A fine message. Super cheesy narrator.
Revisado: 09-22-20
I have tried listening to this twice now and both times I either lose interest, or find myself laughing at the narrator/author's delivery. I get he is trying to be engaging and serious, but it all comes off as way too intense and needlessly "macho". I feel like he really does not speak or sound like the way he does. It's as if he is going for a dark, edgy, superhero voice. Apart from the narration, the book itself is fine.

Historia
Flynn is stuck - depressed, recently dumped, and living at his mom’s house. The supermarket was supposed to change all that. An ordinary job and a steady check. Work isn’t work when it’s saving you from yourself. But things aren’t quite as they seem in these aisles. Arriving to work one day to a crime scene, Flynn’s world collapses as the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed. And Flynn doesn’t want to go looking for answers at the supermarket. Because something there seems to be looking for him.

Not very good
Revisado: 04-27-20
I heard it was good and wanted to see what Logic was like as an author. It is flat out dull, unoriginal and very predictable. I would not recommend this to anyone (well MAYBE young adults) but if you are a fan I know you are going to read it anyways. Not great.
