Historia
During the depths of the Great Depression, Seabiscuit won against incredible odds and uplifted the hearts of Americans from the streets to the White House. Ralph Moody recounts the thrilling tale of the plucky horse who refused to quit, the down-on-his-luck jockey who didn't let horrendous accidents keep him out of the saddle, and the taciturn trainer who brought out the best in both.

Jim Weiss is my family's all-time favorite narrator. His clear voice is easily heard over road noise, and his varying of tempo, inflection and emphasis contributes to stories that are more easily devoured.

Historia
The good Doctor Dolittle, accompanied by his devoted animal friends, sets sail once again. This time it is a voyage of discovery, to learn the secret of the Shellfish language, and to teach Tommy Stubbins, the Doctor's young protege, all there is to know about animals and their languages. Choosing their destination by opening an atlas, closing their eyes, and touching the page with a pencil, they set off on the most amazing voyage.

Difficult to understand
Revisado: 04-11-11
My children have repeatedly listened to the Story of Doctor Dolittle and have found it very easy to follow (age range 4-7). Nadia Mays has a very delightful, warm, and crisp presentation. However, this narrator has a very "gravelly" voice, which makes his words difficult to understand. My children can't follow it at all, despite my attempts to present it to them on numerous occasions. This is unfortunate, because this book is intended for a younger audience.

Wonderfully warm and sweet!

My 6 yo (active) boy didn't want to do anything else until he had completed listening to this story. He requested that we listen to it while eating dinner, and then he wanted to listen to it the first thing upon waking the next morning, etc. I heard bits and pieces as I was moving about, completing chores, and its sweetness brought me to tears.

Historia
Doctor Dolittle, a little, lovable, old doctor, has so many animal pets spread throughout his house and garden that patients will not come to him anymore. As a result, he becomes poorer and poorer. But he occupies nearly all of his time as the animals' doctor, and soon discovers that he can talk to the animals; Jip the dog, Dab Dab the duck, and Polynesia the parrot.

My 6 yo boy and 4 yo daughter enjoyed this immensely, recounting it excitedly to their dad each night at the dinner table. Excellent narration complementing a delightful fast-paced story.
